Now this is the kind of title I want to see on my legendary creatures. I also like the “he could be anyone – even you! – even me!” implication from both the name and his abilities. The usefulness of Clone effects is well known by now, but it does take on a different dimension when he can be your commander, in terms of reusability and some of the less tangible advantages, like copying something gigantic and threatening an instant win by commander damage. There are also lots of fun things you can do with his getting around the legend rule. If you ever had a favorite legend who would make a great target for Splinter Twin, and they still refuse to unban Twin in Modern, Sakashima might be the answer. Not to mention that the fact that he has partner means you can effectively use two copies of the other partner if you want to – I’m sure there’s a way to take advantage of that!

Back for his second card, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces does a similar thing to what his Impostor iteration did in offering the ability to copy a creature you normally wouldn’t be able to copy. Of course, there are two key differences: this Sakashima can only copy your creatures, and he also comes with a built-in, one-sided Mirror Gallery. The second half is what gives it a lot of value, since Mirror Gallery is a card with no reprints and an effect that can be incredibly valuable in a deck built to take full advantage of it. Couple that with partner, and there’s a world of pain you can wreak if you build to milk his unique talents to their fullest. He’s also completely usable in an empty board as a 3/1 warm body with his passive ability, though he’s a creature many decks will have no issues killing. Still, there will be many decks where Sakashima of a Thousand Faces’ skillset is very valuable, and partner opens up a wealth of shenanigans in terms of being able to make him really pop.
