Hello Pojo Fans,

Come September, Linkross is getting banned.

Low ATK and a Link 1 doesn’t diminish this cards power. Link 2 or higher to summon this, and you get tokens for your trouble. Two tokens minimum you’ll receive and despite not being able to link them away that turn, those tokens still are usable for other means (tribute summon, special summons, effects). This is such an easy card to summon. You use up your Link Monsters effect(s) and link climb like normal, except you don’t need another monster, you just need that Link Monster. It doesn’t matter that it is a Link 1, even in Master Rule 4 it wouldn’t have mattered, it is a token producing card. There will never be a situation where you will not activate this cards effect. Even if the tokens are merely used to wall up for a turn you are still putting up defenses that are essentially free. The one good thing is you can only use this cards effect once per turn, and it being a Link 1 you can’t Link it away for another copy. Too many decks can abuse this cards token producing effect. Combine that with Halqifibrax summoning a Tuner, you’ve got Synchro materials right there. They are Cyberse tokens so they can be used for that archetype’s effects, and as a LIGHT they could be fodder for a Fusion Summon.

Ban it. You don’t want a player summoning Saryuja Skull Dread and then going into Linkross…broken.

Let’s get into some Links now, mostly of the Cyberse variety, starting with a Link that has shown some major issues with combos alongside Halqifibrax and Auroradon: Linkross.

Linkross is a Link-1 LIGHT Cyberse with 900 ATK and an arrow pointing down. Fine ATK for Link-1, LIGHT is good, Cyberse was well supported through VRAINS even if that support is done now, and the arrow is typically what you want on Link-1s. The summoning requirement is any Link-2 or higher monster, so you’d want to get value for giving up something you invested multiple resources into. You do get value as upon this card’s Link Summon, you can Special Summon a number of Link Tokens (Cyberse/LIGHT/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) up to the Link Rating of the monster used as material, but the Tokens cannot be used as Link Material for the rest of this turn. The Link restriction is fine considering how much Link Spam it could promote, but the free monsters with little downside means Synchro Spam instead. It helps to use Halqifibrax with this alongside the Tuner you summoned to go for some smaller Synchros like Formula Synchron or Martial Metal Marcher for more combos. From there, possibilities seem limitless. This lone effect of Linkross is a hard once per turn, since we don’t need Token spamming like this still it seems. It’s a very powerful card that has allowed combos to still happen with the Tokens, despite the Link restriction. It’s already Limited in the OCG before the TCG release and it could see the same fate here soon, and later on a ban potentially. It allows some strong stuff, worth playing in Combo Decks.

It’s been a minute since we looked at a Link Monster so here’s Linkross.  A Link 1 Monster, Light/Cyberese, with 900 attack and an arrow pointing directly down who needs any Link 2 or higher Monster to be Link Summoned.

Link Summoning this card gives you Link Tokens.  Specifically, equal to the number of the Link rating you used of the Monster to Link Summon this card.  They can’t be used for Link Summon the turn they hit the Field.

However, they can be used for anything else.  Tributes, costs, Extra Deck plays…whatever you need at the time.  Anything this easy to bring out that can generate multiple free Tokens is amazing and I love how the Link restriction doesn’t apply to this card itself.
