Legion Warboss is an iteration of M15’s Goblin Rabblemaster, which is a deceptively powerful card that gives aggressive decks (and not just the strictly goblin-themed ones!) a lot of power against control decks as a kind of red Bitterblossom. The Warboss’ added ability can actually become a trap: it invites you to attack with him and thus enhance a goblin or other creature, while putting him in danger himself. Knowing when to do so and when to hold him back is the key to getting the most out of him. And once again, I’m impressed with how well the Warboss interacts with Boros’ older signature mechanic, battalion – if he stays on the table for even one turn, he can take you from one creature to battalion status, counting himself.

It may not rally the rabble, but Legion Warboss certainly calls to mind the infamous Goblin Rabblemaster of Magic 2015 fame. They even have similar-ish effects: make goblins, and make them attack. Legion Warboss is a bit more controlled, only forcing the new Goblins to go charging in. And while Rabblemaster got bigger with more Goblins joining the party, the Warboss makes them bigger thanks to Mentor. Warboss is pretty potent and a solid part of the red/Boros all-in attack; while it lacks haste and has a merely passable body, being able to put out a steady stream of attackers can overwhelm all but the strongest defensive formations.
