Infernity Paranoia – #PHRA-EN060

Tribute 1 DARK monster; Special Summon 1 “Infernity” monster from your Deck or GY with the same Level but a different name, but negate its effects. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 “Infernity” monster in your GY; add it to your hand. You can only activate 1 “Infernity Paranoia” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Infernity Paranoia is good for its second effect more than its first.

A 1-for-1 pull from the deck or grave but effects negated is just a way to get an Infernity to the board for Extra Deck manipulation. Sure, you could use this card to bring out one of your Tuner monsters and Synchro, and that’s good and all, but Infernity want their effects. In a pinch it could be good like if you were playing the deck and got bogged down. Tributing the DARK monster for the search gets that monster in the grave, and can be useful for something like Phantom of Chaos to banish to copy (bad in the day plays) but I’m just not seeing the first effect being a game-breaking move. I like the banish to add back effect better. Have to wait a turn, that’s a balance since this deck depletes its hand rapidly and if you’ve ever been on the receiving end of three Archfiends you will understand why this card makes you wait.

Next up we look at an Infernity Spell that helps get your Infernity monsters into circulation more than anything: Infernity Paranoia.

Paranoia is a Normal Spell that lets you tribute any DARK monster to Special Summon an Infernity monster with the same Level from your Deck or graveyard, but with a different name from the tributed monster assuming you tributed an Infernity actually, but the summoned monster’s effects are negated. Negating the summoned monster’s effect is more than fair considering how strong most Infernity effects are, last thing we needed was a way to summon Archfiend from Deck and trigger its search at the same time. At least this can get Archfiend out of Deck by tributing something like Armageddon Knight so you can eventually put Archfiend in grave to revive. You could also get Conjurer from Deck to revive itself later since its effect on field isn’t too useful to where you wouldn’t want to lose out on it. At worst you’re at least getting to your Infernity cards to summon off your revival cards. The second effect can be used during the Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the graveyard, where you can banish this card from your graveyard to get an Infernity monster from grave back to your hand. This at least gets you back cards like Mirage or Necromancer to resummon and use their effects once again to summon something like Archfiend from grave. Infernity doesn’t have too great recovery after their plays to begin with in all fairness, it is a Deck where you want to have no hand, so this helps somewhat at least. Paranoia is a hard once per turn, which is something we can say is fair for this archetype. I’d still say it’s worth being a 1-of. You don’t want multiples in hand cause otherwise you’d have to set the other copies and clog your backrow, and it’s searchable off Archfiend to access and get to other Infernity names later in your combo.

Infernity Paranoia is a Normal Magic card and one that is cyclical in its effects while supporting and hindering your empty Hand philosophy of this Theme.  Tributing any Dark Monster lets you Special Summon an Infernity of a different name but the same Level.  Said Monster has its effect(s) negates but that’s not as issue   You should immediately be making a Synchro, or other Extra Deck play off this.  Removing this card from play, save the Turn it goes to the Grave, let’s you add an Infernity from your Grave back to your Hand.  Recycling resources is good, though anything in your Hand for very long in the Deck isn’t usually good.  But if you play it immediately, it can help more.

Art:  4/5  Fun, and staring at this too long may cause paranoia, but I don’t see this as art fitting the name
