Icejade Creation Aegirocassis – #POTE-EN010

While this card is equipped to a monster, the equipped monster gains 400 ATK/DEF for each banished monster. You can only use 1 of the following effects of “Icejade Creation Aegirocassis” per turn, and only once that turn. If this card is in your hand or GY (except during the Damage Step) (Quick Effect): You can target 1 “Icejade” monster you control; equip this card to that monster you control. While this card is equipped to a monster: You can Special Summon this card.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Icejade Creation Aegirocassis starts our week and is a unique monster of sorts.

Level 7 Aqua WATER Tuner, Aegirocassis can get equipped, but doesn’t boost the ATK/DEF much unless you’ve got some banished monsters. Because you have to know that the banished cards are monsters Pot of Extravagance and Pot of Desires aren’t going to help you. 400 boost for both ATK/DEF is pretty good if you have at least four monsters banished. Acti and Tinola help by banishing themselves to activate effects, but you’ll need a bit more to make the boost Aegirocassis offers to be worth it. The total includes your opponent’s monsters, making it easier to get a big boost.

Like Kingfisher, Aegirocassis can equip itself to any Icejade monsters other than itself, as well as unequip and Special Summon itself. At 2000 ATK/DEF it doesn’t boast much on its own in attack power, but as a Tuner, it can help make a Synchro 10 or 11 easily in the Icejade archetype.

Aegirocassis isn’t the greatest monster for the Icejade archetype because the archetype doesn’t banish to boost Aegirocassis’s effect quickly, nor do all the monsters banish. Including your opponent’s banished monsters helps, but it isn’t a guarantee that they will have face-up banished monsters. With the Byssted archetype being released this card gains more power potential for Icejades. It’s worth playing a copy in the archetype, but I’m not sure if you need a set.

More lore this week as we continue Albaz’s story with all the other archetypes related to it, starting this week with Icejade Creation Aegirocassis.

Aegirocassis is a Level 7 WATER Aqua Tuner with 2000 ATK and DEF. Stats aren’t great for a Level 7, but I like WATER and Aqua, and the Icejade Synchro revealed recently adds some context to this being a Tuner. First effect gives a monster this is equipped to a 400 ATK/DEF boost for each banished monster, which I guess is fine. Don’t think Icejades banish a lot, but this is a part of being Swordsoul of Mo Ye or something similar to her I guess. You only get to choose between one of the two remaining effects this has once per turn and only once that turn, with the first letting you equip this card from the hand or graveyard to an Icejade monster you control as a Quick Effect, so another Icejade that can equip itself to something. Second effect lets you Special Summon this if it’s equipped to a monster, so you at least got an easy way to get it on board as a monster for Synchro plays. Aegirocassis is an alright support piece for Icejades, especially with the context of knowing they’re getting their own Level 10 Synchro. It’s fine for the archetype.

We’ve got another grab bag of assorted goodies this week, and kicking things off is Icejade Creation Aegirocassis.  Level 7, Water/Aqua/Tuner, but a lousy 2000 atk and def.  No other real issues there.  So as Icejades like to do, this card can be attached to other Monsters, and this one while attached gives that Monster 400 atk/def per Monster card(s) currently removed from play.  So even just 3 is a 1200 boost, and about any Deck out there can remove cards, to include Icejade.  Next is a Quick Effect, with two different choices, but only one of said Effect can be used per Turn.  You can attach this from the Grave to an Icejade Monster of yours, so long as it’s not the Damage Step, OR, you can Special Summon it to your Field if it’s attached to a Monster.  I’m certainly leaning towards the latter being the better Effect, however; there will be times the prior will work more in your favor.  Maybe you need the attack boost or a separate Effect, as opposed to automatically bringing this guy to the Field.  The Tuner aspect stays active, as well as other Extra Deck options, benefits for Level 7 after all.  It’s a needlessly convoluted card in terms of Text, but it’s quite good.

Art:  So, I had to google Aegirocassis to see what (if anything) it was, and it was a sea giant in Norse mythology and an animal (eventually) that lived nearly half a billion years ago.  Google it, and look at a couple pics, this is VERY accurate, and that alone, earns this a 5/5.  Cool background too
