Hundred Dragon – #DLCS-EN146

Once per turn: You can have this card gain Levels equal to the number of cards you control, and if you do, it gains 100 ATK for each Level gained. These changes last until the end of this turn. If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 face-up monster you control that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck; the first time that face-up monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, it is not destroyed. You can only use this effect of “Hundred Dragon” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Hundred Dragon starts our look at Dragons of Legends this week on Pojo, and Baby Dragon has finally grown up…well, adolescence as it were.

Improved stats for the older version of the little dragon Joey used. Its level change effect has more to do with Synchro and Xyz Summons rather than benefiting from the meager ATK boost. One-time protection from destruction for one of your Extra Deck monsters is a good effect for when Hundred hits the grave. More than likely you will only get a boost of 300-400ATK because it seems like a rarity that a player would have more cards then that in their hands, even with a bad hand, that still would make Hundred Dragon a 2200 Level 4 beater. Once it hits the grave in any fashion (including your Extra Deck summons) you get that protection. If used as previously mentioned, you have instant one-time protection for your Extra Deck monster, and that is handy.

Much better than either of its previous forms as it should have been. Not sure it will see any play but it at least has something going for it aside from being a fan favorite.

The final week before we get into the Top 10 of 2020 and we start it off with the younger version of Thousand Dragon: Hundred Dragon.

Hundred Dragon is a Level 4 WIND Dragon with 1800 ATK and 1000 DEF. Those are about acceptable Level 4 stats, WIND is the weakest Attribute in the game, but it makes up for that with one of the strongest Types in Dragon. Once per turn, you can have this card gain Levels equal to the number of cards you control, and if you do, it also gains 100 ATK for each Level gained. Pretty easy way to get a higher Leveled Monster on field with the greatest of ease, you just have to control the resources on field if you want a specific Level. At the very least, you should get this to Level 5 with itself on field. The changes last until the end of the turn, so you aren’t stuck with a high-Leveled Monster if you don’t want it. The second effect is if this card is sent to the graveyard, you can target a face-up Monster that was summoned from the Extra Deck and the first time that Monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, it isn’t. Fine protection overall, though could of been stronger. At least it protects a stronger Monster you might of summoned using this. This is the hard once per turn effect of Hundred Dragon, which is fine I guess. I feel like there’s a use for this card somewhere, I just don’t know where it is. Right now I just don’t think its effects have a good home yet, but that could always change. It’s nothing gamebreaking, but there’s something there I feel like.

Art: 4/5 Looks close to Thousand Dragon still, I do like the Baby Dragon line.

Looks like a week of Joey re-train cards, starting with Hundred Dragon.  The logical step down from Thousand Dragon, being a Wind/Dragon (both good) Level 4, with 1800 attack (solid) and 1000 defense.  Attached is a modest attack increase 100x each card you control.  This, in theory, probably encourages overextending your board, but since it raises the Level of this card by 1, that maxes out at 12 (I believe at present there are three RANK 13 Monsters in Japan but that’s not a Level, so I digress).  Simply controlling 3-6 cards should suffice increasing this from 1800 attack to 2100-2400 (although remember the Level of this card increases with it) and this IS an optional effect remember.  Level manipulation opens up Link/Synchro/XYZ whatever Extra Deck play you should need at the time, which is a definite plus as well.  If this card is sent to your Graveyard, (by either player, in any manner) you can Target a face-up Monster of yours Special Summoned from the Extra Deck and said Monster becomes immune to its first Battle and Effect Destruction.  Thousand Dragon maybe in a Joey Deck I’m sure (or others) but even just that semi once over protection is welcome.  A fun card, with a couple of neat tricks.

Art:  3.5/5  Thousand Dragon is definitely cooler, but I think they did a decent job of keeping this card looking younger while maintaining the resemblance between the two.
