This card’s name could well have been in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed set, though now I doubt it will because they don’t seem to be using the cloak mechanic. In terms of function, it’s rather interesting since it does get you a way to put creatures in play subtly and mysteriously – a great combination of flavor and mechanic, though there may not be too many situations where it really pays off to get the creature face-down. The main ones that come to mind are old cards with bizarre drawbacks, like Phyrexian Dreadnought and Eater of Days. It’s a little fragile for tournaments, but I suspect it’d be a fun deck in casual. It’s also a way to use basically your entire deck to bluff your opponent: they’re expecting Phyrexian Dreadnought and Eater of Days, and then you run them over with creatures in an otherwise creatureless mono-green deck. Hey, it’s the mystery/crime set, we’ve gotta think outside the box.

Four mana for a 2/2 with ward isn’t a great deal, but the caveat is that it’s not necessarily just that body on its own, and being able to become more than a 2/2 is a pretty promising prospect. As always, if you have disguise or morph on a card, it can turn up for that cost instead of its mana cost, and the four mana is only a slight overpay over the three mana to cast the spell…especially since it gives you the best choice of five. It’s nothing phenomenal, but it’s a decent spell that’ll help a deck put its board in order.
