We looked at Flame Wingman, now time to look at his evolution and what I presume was going to be Jaden’s ace before Neos: Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman.

Shining Flare Wingman is a Level 8 LIGHT Warrior Fusion with 2500 ATK and 2100 DEF. Okay stats, LIGHT is always great, and Warrior is good. Fusion Materials are Elemental HERO Flame Wingman and Elemental HERO Sparkman, so the Fusion that needed 2 vanillas to summon and then you need a 3rd vanilla and another Fusion Spell for this. King of the Swamp is at least a nice substitute to use and it’s useful in the most casual of HERO Decks using Jaden’s old anime stuff. Same condition, must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be summoned by other ways, though I could never foresee this ever taking the spot of Cyber Twin Dragon or Gatling Dragon as the Level 8 Metamorphosis target. Gains 300 ATK for each Elemental HERO card in the graveyard, which only really applies to monsters since that’s all the Elemental HERO cards there are. Assuming you used 2 Polys, the 3 vanillas, and Flame Wingman to summon this, you should have a grand total of 3700 ATK, which is nothing to scoff at. You most likely used a Fusion Substitute monster or Miracle Fusion to summon this, though, but either way it should have some ATK boost. We got the same effect as Flame Wingman, destroy a monster in battle and deal damage equal to said monster’s original ATK. I presume Flame Wingman is the same with the original ATK, we just don’t have modern PSCT for this unlike Shining Flare Wingman. Burn is good still, just wish this had some sort of real upgrade to it over Flame Wingman besides the ATK boost. A double ATK or double burn, idk. Either way, it’s still a decent card on paper, just way harder to summon than yesterday now. Unless modern support changes that, this likely won’t see play.

Art: 5/5 As a kid, I loved seeing this on Elemental Energy hoping I could pull one myself, at least I had the 2006 instead.

Flames shine, why did this guy have to be changed from Flame Wingman, to Flare Wingman?  Anyway, requiring yesterday’s card, plus Sparkman for a Fusion (Fusions requiring other Fusions can work, Synchros using other Synchros worked sometimes) and the Hero player has enough cards to pull this off where it shouldn’t be TOO difficult.  The problem is, you’re still investing a LOT of cards, say minimum of probably 5, just to get this guy to your Field.  I mean it could on occasion be less, but that’s a lot of cards to give up, and something this former reviewer (ExMinionofDarkness) said, if you’re playing 5 cards for one Monster, it better win you the game…this card is likely not winning you many games…at least not often enough, and likely not on his own, either.  The same Burn Effect is here, and the 300 attack increase x Hero in your Graveyard IS rather nice.  I mean, he could easily have 4 just upon initial summon and that’s 3700 attack.  Dumping Heroes is quite easy as well, this guy can stack up fast.  He’s vulnerable to everything, as most cards in the game are, but you get one shot in over something strong enough, it can be game.

Art:  5/5  Definitely an improvement over the Flame counterpart, though not as menacing looking.
