Chaos Valkyria
– #TOCH-EN008

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by a card effect. You can banish 1 LIGHT or DARK monster from your GY: Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is banished: You can send 1 LIGHT or DARK monster from your Deck to the GY, but for the rest of this turn, you cannot activate cards, or the effects of cards, with the same name as that card. You can only use each effect of “Chaos Valkyria” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Chaos Valkyria is our kickoff to Chaos Week.

Never fond off the bat when a Level 4 can’t be Normal Summoned. LIGHT and DARK removal from the grave is an easy way to summon her, but you’ll need to get that stuff in the grave to do that and on first turn that may be up in the air (needing to depend on other cards for a Level 4 isn’t preferable). Valkyria herself when banished acts like a a LIGHT or DARK Foolish Burial, but being unable to activate that card’s effect(s) for the rest of the turn prevents you from advancing using monsters that activate in the grave…which are monsters you’d use in a deck like this. That aside, Valkyria can thin the deck and Special Summons herself, not taking up the Normal Summon. Her requirements can work with monsters that flourish off banishing, but there are better monsters that can do that.

From the Toon side of things to the Chaos side, we now have a whole Chaos-themed Week here starting with Chaos Valkyria.

Chaos Valkyria is a Level 4 LIGHT Fairy with 1800 ATK and 1050 DEF. Pretty solid ATK stat overall, LIGHT is a good Attribute and always part of the Chaos theme, and Fairy is a fine typing usually. Valkyria cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must be Special Summoned via a card effect. This is fine, considering the card has its own summoning condition and it’s super easy. All you need to do to summon this from hand is to banish a LIGHT or DARK from your graveyard, which is fairly easy to do with Chaos and the versatility of choice is great. It’s basically another White Dragon Wyverburster or Black Dragon Collapserpent without that nice Dragon typing. You can also trigger an easy banish effect off this, which Thunder Dragons come to mind. Lastly if this card is banished from the graveyard, you can send any LIGHT or DARK monster from Deck to grave at the cost of not being able to use effects of cards with the same name as that card for the rest of the turn. The effect lockout stings, but at the same time it can setup a future play later in the Duel or at the very least you can use the monster sent to summon another Chaos monster from the hand. Each effect is a hard once per turn, which is fine cause this is solid setup for anything using Chaos cards. It’s a preference thing, but it would of been nice to be DARK for Allure of Darkness. Either way, it’s worth using from time to time.

Art: 5/5 Upgrade over Dark Valkyria and an upgrade over the classic Dunames Dark Witch.

Here we have another instance of Alex types you a review and it doesn’t save when I update the page.  Anyway, Chaos Valkyria is familiar, and should be to many, in multiple ways, as we begin Chaos week.

Not being able to Normal Summon a Level 4 isn’t good.  Removing a Light + Dark is Chaos traditional, and simple, but might not always be an option for you.  Being able to dump a Light or Dark if this card is removed from play is good.

Not being able to use the effect of said dumped card that turn isn’t so great.  While not bad, this card almost seems counter productive to things it’s trying to do.  But it’s still a decent combo card.
