This card was not on my Top 10 list.
This is another card that I rather underestimated when we first reviewed it. I think I expected the bargain cost to be harder to pay than it usually is in practice – not least since you can build constructed decks with it in mind and there are a lot of incidental token cards in every set. Once you do pay that cost, you have a lot more options than it originally appears; some of Magic’s best spells cost four or less, and many more besides can turn a game around if used at the right time. The fact that you can use it in either a “fast” or “slow” manner is another point in its favor, not to mention eliminating one of the traditional downsides of more expensive tutors (ie. having to wait until your next turn to cast something).

Beseech the Mirror is the kind of cad that plays far better than it reads at first. The bargain cost is hardly much of a…well, cost to pay, and being able to make this an extra copy of any four mana card (or cheaper) in your deck is a massive boon for consistency and efficacy. And if you don’t need the cast, it is a Diabolic Tutor…which is not great, but it’s serviceable enough as a spell if it’s part of an additional functionality of he spell. It’s been a heavily-played card for a good reason, and it’s s potent spell however you choose to employ it.
