Hello Pojo Fans,

Beetrooper Descent is one of the Spell cards that you’re likely running a playset of.

Special Summon 1 Beetrooper Token, that’s pretty good. No restrictions on stuff having to be on the field, LP restriction, turn restriction. You get a free Level 3 Insect token with 1000/1000 stats. Any deck can use token-producing cards, even if it was just a single token. If you have an Insect that’s 3000ATK or over you get a free Spell/Trap destruction. Within the Beetrooper deck you have three monsters that can do this and while two need up to four monsters to get there, it is nice that you get this added pop on a card that’s primary use is to produce a token. It would’ve been better I think to have this second effect as a “banish to activate” effect, that way you could use the token you just got towards making a 3000+ATK Insect.

There are only six monsters with a base 3000ATK that are Insect-Type in the TCG and three are in this archetype. This card can be used anywhere because of its lack of restriction, but can get you both effects in the archetype. Play it first turn if you need that token, but any turn after that it can get you both.

Next up is a super simple, yet super good card for Beetroopers and anything that likes free Level 3 Tokens: Beetrooper Descent.

Beetrooper Descent is a Normal Spell that summons a Beetrooper Token (Insect/EARTH/Level 3/ATK 1000/DEF 1000), then you get to pop another Spell/Trap on the field if you control an Insect with 3000 or more ATK. The Token is more than enough really to get the free body on board without a Normal Summon, of course your Insect strategies will love this. Being a Level 3 also opens up the Level 3 Toolbox Deck to get access to Cherubini as well due to there being no restriction. The Spell/Trap removal might come up, but you might be more likely to use this to summon one of your 3000 ATK Insects and not after one is on the field. Hard once per turn on this, no drawing/searching 3 and getting 3 Tokens. Sometimes the simplest cards are some of the best in the game, and while this isn’t anything insane, it offers some good utility for Insects and Level 3 Toolbox strategies.

Beetrooper Descent is a Normal Magic, and a simple one at that, but has some uses.  You gain via Special Summon an Beetrooper Token (with irrelevant, paltry stats).  The Token has no limitations…Link it, Tribute it, whatever you need in the situation, the Token can be used for.  You also gain the ability to destroy a Magic or Trap on the Field (any position, of either player) if you control an Insect Monster with 3000 or more attack.  Nice little bonus, and obviously you’re going to WANT to be able to do both, but sometimes you may just need the Token, and that’s okay too.  You can only activate one of these a Turn…I assume mostly for spamming/flooding, and likely to limit Extra Deck plays.  The M/T destruction likely is a factor in that too, but probably not quite as much.

Art:  3/5  This is kinda pretty, but the name doesn’t match the art here very well.  It should’ve been the whole swarm of Beetroopers all clearly descending down.

Following up on Beetrooper Assault Roller is Beetrooper Descent, a normal spell, and it can be searched just fine by Beetrooper Sting Lancer if you really wanted to. Bizarrely, it is a no-strings-attached token generator; Descent special summons a Beetrooper token (a level 3 EARTH insect with 1000 attack and defense) and, if you happen to control an insect with 3000 or more attack (which is currently only SIX monsters), you can destroy one other spell or trap on the field. Other than being a hard once per turn, there’s no downside to activating it, so it can be a tribute body for a deck like Monarchs or a link body for a deck like Fur Hire. The backrow removal isn’t hard to pull off since Beetroopers can access Giant Beetrooper – Invincible Atlas very easily, and it synergizes well with its tribute effect. Not much else to say, if I had to complain I would say Beetroopers have enough extenders as is.
