Hello Pojo Fans,

Always love a good Instant Fusion target even if no one but that archetype can use it, and Beetrooper Cruel Saturnas is just that.

Level 5 makes it a target for the previously mentioned card, and while no one else will benefit from it, Beetroopers do. Locks you into Insect monsters is nothing for the Beetrooper archetype to worry about, and making this card with an Insect and a Beetrooper is easy. When Special Summoned (like with Instant Fusion), you get yourself a Beetrooper search from the Deck of any Beetrooper card. Many targets to search and depending on what you are going for will determine your search. If you are looking to get back your banished Insects, you’ll search Mighty Neptune to cycle them back for that monster’s Special Summon. Another Special Summon? Sting Lancer likely is your target with its shuffle-back in the grave ability of a monster of yours as well as a monster in your opponent’s grave (Quick Effect during the Main Phase of any turn makes it a disruption as well). Beetrooper Descent off Cruel Saturnas’s search off of its Special Summon from Instant Fusion will set up a Link 2 of Armor Horn (as well as pop a Spell/Trap if you have an Insect with 3000ATK or more on the field). You have options for your search.

If an Insect happens to be banished face-up, Cruel Saturnas will Special Summon a banished Beetrooper monster. Assault Roller needs to banish to Special Summon itself, Armor Horn banishes stuff in the grave to Special Summon itself from the grave, your archetype Fusion Spell: Beetrooper Landing, will cycle itself back to your hand through banishing two Insect monsters in the grave (just not the turn you sent it to the grave), bottom line: you will be able to Special Summon the turn you Instant Fusion out Cruel Saturnas.

Great addition to the Beetrooper archetype. Easy to summon through their own Fusion Spell or Instant Fusion, great generic search for the archetype, and can be an easy Link 3 or higher through the archetype’s ability to banish to Special Summon.

It’s been a little bit since we got a new Beetrooper, and we got a much easier Fusion to summon with Beetrooper Cruel Saturnas.

Cruel Saturnas is a Level 5 DARK Insect Fusion with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF. The stats are nice for a Level 5, DARK is always great, and Insect has alright support now. The Fusion Materials are any Beetrooper and any Insect, so extremely easy to summon in the Beetrooper archetype. You cannot Special Summon any monsters that aren’t Insects while you control this, a lock that Beetrooper are already used to anyways. The remaining effects are a hard once per turn, the first triggering on Special Summon to add any Beetrooper card from your Deck to your hand. So they basically took Tearlaments Kitkallos and copied it to Beetrooper, minus the option to send from Deck to grave. It’s still a search on a monster you can summon off of Instant Fusion, which is great. An easy search for a way to extend your plays or disrupt the opponent later. The second effect triggers when an Insect monster(s) is banished face-up, letting you summon a banished Beetrooper, helping you get more bodies on board. It feels just like Tearlaments Kitkallos, just for a more balanced archetype. It doesn’t generate as much advantage for Beetroopers as Kitkallos did for Tearlaments, but it still does more for the Deck than we had before. Certainly worth using with Instant Fusion and maybe actually running the Beetrooper Fusion Spell to summon it naturally.

Doubling down on Konami’s bizarre and controversial decision to introduce Fusion Summoning to the Beetrooper archetype, today’s card is Beetrooper Cruel Saturnas, a level 5 DARK Insect Fusion monster. Since it’s level 5, it instantly makes Instant Fusion an attractive extender, and even without Instant Fusion it’s not particularly difficult to summon, only requiring any Beetrooper monster and any Insect monster. With 2400 attack and 2000 defense, its stats aren’t bad, which is more than we can ask for a level 5 Fusion monster.

Like all Extra Deck Beetrooper monsters, you’re locked into Special Summoning Insect monsters while it’s on the field, so you’ll likely have to Link it off into Inzektor Picofalena or Shinobi Insect Hagakuremino if you want to dip into non-Insect monsters. Cruel Saturnas lives and breathes being an extender, as both of its hard once per turn effects demonstrate; its first effect triggers if it’s Special Summoned, letting you search any Beetrooper monster. Any of the Beetrooper extenders, like Beetrooper Assault Roller, are prime candidates, but it’ll really depend on what you need at the time; if you find yourself unable to get to Beetrooper Sting Lancer, you could search Beetrooper Fly & Sting as well. Cruel Saturnas’s other effect triggers if an Insect monster is banished face-up, letting you Special Summon any of your banished Beetrooper monsters. Thanks to Beetrooper Armor Horn, you’ll be banishing a lot, so it’s nice to have a way to recycle banished Beetroopers without Heavy Beetrooper Mighty Neptune. The main problem with Cruel Saturnas is, unfortunately, the fact that you have to go out of your way to use and incorporate Beetrooper Landing to make use of it. It uses up quite a bit of resources when you could have easily used those resources to do what Cruel Saturnas would’ve done in the first place! Still, since Instant Fusion can summon it instantly, there’s no reason not to run one copy with Instant Fusion for an emergency extender.
