Arkbrave Dragon – #GFTP-EN072

If this card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard: You can banish as many face-up Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls as possible, and if you do, this card gains 200 ATK and DEF for each card banished. Once per turn, during the Standby Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was sent there last turn: You can target 1 Level 7 or 8 Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard, except “Arkbrave Dragon”; Special Summon it.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Arkbrave Dragon is the Throwback Thursday choice and one of the few Dragon-Type monsters

Decently strong stats, but the best part of Arkbrave Dragon is its Special Summon effect and spell/trap clearing ability. Send Arkbrave in any fashion to the grave and you get a free Special Summon of a Dargon Level 7 or 8 from the grave. While you can’t use it on Arkbrave, you can use it on your Starry Knight, Starry Dragon, and it will get you advantage off its summon. Arkbrave can’t interact with any of the Starry Knight monsters aside from Starry Dragon, so to get the banish spell/trap ability it has you’ll have to Special Summon it from the grave using normal means…Monster Reborn? Despite that, you can use Arkbrave in conjunction with Starry Dragon and that is another way to Special Summon the dragon this deck is based around.

Throwback Thursday was of course going to feature a Level 7 Dragon, and while the vanilla that the new Dragon is based off of would of made sense, an Effect Monster would make for a more interesting review, so here’s Arkbrave Dragon.

Arkbrave is a Level 7 LIGHT Dragon with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF. Fine stats for Level 7, even if a little on the low side, LIGHT is still great and Dragon is a better type over Fairy. If this card is Special Summoned from the graveyard, you can banish all face-up Spells and Traps the opponent controls as possible and then this gains 200 ATK and DEF for each banished card. Stings it doesn’t work with Starry Knights summoning from the hand, but you can find ways to revive this at least. It’s more meant for a Felgrand Deck, since this was in the Felgrand Structure Deck. The second effect triggers on the next Standby Phase after this was sent to the grave and lets you revive any Level 7 or 8 Dragon from the grave. Perfect for Felgrand as said as it revives the new Felgrand boss in that Structure Deck and for Starry Knights you at least revive the main Dragon to start putting it on hand and on field over and over again. It can’t revive itself, but that’s fine. Arkbrave is a decent card, though a little tricky with Starry Knights due to them wanting to summon from the hand and this relies on the graveyard. Probably better in a Felgrand Deck as it was designed for than it is Starry Knight.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 4/5 It’s a nice, shiny Dragon. Nice retrain for Darkblaze Dragon and it’s actually useful this time.

Arkbrave Dragon is up for Throwback Thursday (which I even managed to avoid talking about this week to this point) is a Level 7, Light/Dragon with REBD attack and defense, which isn’t so hot on a Level 7.  A Special Summon from the Grave let’s you nuke and remove from play as many face-up Magic/Trap cards as you choose to grant this guy x200 attack (and defense) per card.  Even just 3 puts this up to 3000, so this could build pretty high.  Once a turn during the Standby Phase, you can Special Summon a Level 7 or 8 Dragon from your Graveyard.  Other than this card, so long as it’s in your Grave, and was sent there the prior turn.  Okay, so if it’s removed before or during this process, you get nothing.  An inherent danger, but an equal opportunity one.  A fun card without being broken.

Art:  4/5  Elegant while still being fairly plain.  Nice usage of colors here too.
