Last weekend was Sky Striker, so this weekend we move on towards Mayakashi’s 2 new cards, starting with their new Link Monster: Yuki-Onna, the Icicle Mayakashi.

Yuki-Onna is a Link-3 WATER Zombie with 2400 ATK and all 3 arrows pointing down. Good ATK and great arrows, also a very interesting combination of WATER and Zombie you don’t see often. Materials are any 2+ Zombie monsters, so super easy for Zombies to make. You can only control 1 of this, as goes for all the Mayakashi monsters. Also, the remaining effects are a hard once per turn. Upon being Special Summoned, you can target a Effect Monster the opponent controls and negate its effects, which will be nice for any Quick Effects you can use that would Special Summon this card, but negation just for summoning a monster isn’t too bad. The second effect is a Quick Effect to let you banish this from the graveyard to summon any of your Zombie Synchros that are banished or in your graveyard, helping you trigger the revival effects of all your Mayakashi Synchros. This feels like mainly a piece to use to climb into the Mayakashi Link-4 so you can get this into the graveyard for the revival of one of your Synchros for their effects, which is fine. You summon any of your Mayakashi Extra Deck monsters and you get to revive Dakki, so you can instantly summon the Yuki-Onna Link-4 off this and Dakki alone. It’s a solid card for Mayakashi.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 4/5 I guess if I have to pick a least favorite of the Yuki-Onnas, it’s honestly this one, which isn’t that bad since it’s still great artwork.

More weekend reviews here and Saturday gives us a fun Link Monster in Yuki-Onna the Icicle Mayakashi.  Link 3, Zombie/Water (don’t see that everyday) with a solid 2400 attack and arrows pointing to all 3 respective down Zones.  Link Summon simply requires 2+ Zombie Monsters.  First we see something we never like in that you can only control one of these at a time.  We’ll come back to that and see if that seems appropriate.  Two Effects here, each which can be used Once per Turn.  Targeting and negating the Effect(s) of an opponent’s Effect Monster of your choice IS quite awesome.  Effects are everything, as you know, and locking them out of them, especially a Boss Monster, can be devastating to your opponent.  A Quick Effect lets you remove this card from your Grave from play to Special Summon a Zombie Synchro Monster (also from your Grave) but also that’s been removed from play, if you desire.  That’s a fun and useful Effect too, and an honest 1-for-1 (you know I appreciate Effects like that).  Trading one strong Extra Deck Monster in for another and so easily is great.  Fairly torn on only controlling one of these at a time…I guess they feel that’s too much negation too easily.

Art:  5/5  Very pretty, quietly so, and she really pops off the bright water background.
