Hello Pojo Fans,

Xtra HERO Cross Crusader is the HERO Link monster, but it caters more to Destiny than the other HEROS.

Two warriors is easy to come by within the archetype and outside the archetype, but Isolde covers all warriors while this covers only HERO. Good link points and stats. Special Summon a Destiny Hero off the Link Summon sets up for its second effect, but locks you into HERO monsters for Special Summoning, so you’ll have to go to anything but Link summons for the rest of the turn. Pop a Destiny HERO to search any HERO but the one that was popped thins the deck and gets you to whatever piece you need. Get that spare Malicious out of the deck, get another Stratos, Vyon or Shadow Mist.

Xtra HERO Cross Crusader is a good setup piece for bigger plays for the HERO deck.

I get an interesting Shredder vibe here, probably from the purple. Xtra HERO Cross Crusader is a Link 2 Dark Warrior-type Link Monster with 1600 Atk and with Bottom Diagonal Arrows. 1600 Atk seems to be just right for this Link Monster that requires any 2 Warrior monsters. Isolde comparisons are to be expected. Isolde gives the instant search and some Equip shenanigans. Cross Crusader lets you Special Summon any targeted Destiny Hero monster from the grave upon being Link Summoned. No neutering going on here, the new monster can attack, use its effect and help Link climb, so long as every new Special Summon is a Hero monster. Furthering the Destiny Hero support, Cross Crusader can tribute any Destiny Hero monster so you can search any (different) Hero monster from your deck to your hand. Each effect is naturally once per turn and the Hero restriction for both effects does make this less versatile than Isolde. However, Cross Crusader seems to be really good at moving Destiny Heroes around for advantage. It’s too bad he can’t tribute himself. 2 might be the right number for at the very least another good Link 2 Warrior option.

Didn’t think HEROs would be getting three Link Monsters, but here we are with Xtra HERO Cross Crusader.

Cross Crusader is a Link-2 DARK Warrior with 1600 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. ATK is fine on a Link-2, I like DARK Warrior and I like the arrows. The summoning requirements are any 2 Warrior monsters, which is easy in HEROs and this is especially worth it over Isolde in HERO decks in some cases. It should be noted the turn you use any of this guy’s effects, you can’t Special Summon except for HEROs, before and after, so you might not Link Summon this if you used something like Junk Forward or Blue Mountain Butterspy already. Upon being Link Summoned, you can target a Destiny HERO in your graveyard and revive it. You’ll likely have a Destiny HERO in the grave, you probably would use one to Link Summon this, so paying for the inherent minus for Link Summoning this immediately upon summon is great. You can also tribute a Destiny HERO to search for any HERO monster in your deck, and I can appreciate this not being limited to Destiny HEROs so you can get cards like Faris, Vyon, Stratos, Honesty Neos, Shadow Mist, etc. A search is a search and I’ll always appreciate one that is easy to get. Each effect of this is a hard once per turn, which of course they are, but at least you can use both in the same turn. This card is great in HERO decks as it can do more stuff for you that Isolde just can’t get done for you, so playing two in the HERO Extra Deck should be just fine, just make sure you got some Destiny HEROs to maximize your synergy with this, otherwise you might as well just run Isolde.

Wednesday brings us a Link Monster in Xtra Hero Cross Crusader.  Dark, Warrior, Link 2, with 1600 attack (which honestly isn’t bad for a Link 2) with arrows pointing to the respective bottom diagonals here.  Two Warrior Monsters are required for a Link Summon of this card also.  This works well with our card from Monday.  When Link Summoned, you can Special Summon a Destiny Hero from your Graveyard.

This is a targeting effect, and a free Special Summon (even if it’s limited to the Graveyard) upon Link Summoning is a great effect to have.  This card also has nice synergy for a Hero player period, regardless of the hybrid of your Deck, when for a nice 1-for-1 you can Tribute any Destiny Hero Monster to add any Hero Monster from your Deck to your Hand (other than the one you Tributed).

Each effect is once per turn, and you can’t activate non Hero card effects when you use either effect of Cross Crusader.  Have to mention those things, but it’s not much of a deterrent, as usual.  The effect limitation is a bit more irky than Special Summoning out of the theme, but for a turn, it shouldn’t hurt you at all.  Good effects, lovely combos, and a reasonable attack.  Can’t go wrong here.

Art:  Plenty of swirls in the background of this card.  I like the dark blue/black/purple in the back, and I like the red and purple on the man.  The grey and black in the suit is kinda boring to me though.  4.5/5
