When the Serrans go hard, they go hard. The Paragon reminds me not just of the obvious comparisons with Lurrus and Sun Titan, but with Serra Angel. Yes, really – she’s on or above curve in terms of stats and abilities, meaning there will be games where you can just fly over to victory. And when it’s not possible to do that, her ability will make an enormous difference. It’s worded to prevent one specific kind of loop, but leaves room for cards like Ephemerate, and that extra 2 life will undoubtedly turn out to be useful now and then.

And sure, she can’t go in a deck that’s using Lurrus as a companion. But you can put Lurrus in the maindeck alongside her, and use a different companion. Now that’s going metal hard!

Serra Paragon is a weird card, but potentially very powerful. Getting a second chance for a card from your graveyard is always promising, even if it’s just one more chance, and being able to blink or bounce it to get around the exile clause is a boon. Alternatively, it gives you a bit more even after they ultimately die, which can help you edge out a long game. Serra Paragon feels like a card that’s going to be cracked in half somehow, somewhere, and that’s without mentioning she’s an evasive flier with a decent enough rate of return. I’d keep my eyes on this card, the one out of Dominaria United with the biggest abuse potential of them all; any repeatable recursion source can be dangerous, and how Serra Paragon pulls it off makes her scary indeed.

Constructed: 4 (maybe optimistic, but she’s very scary)
