Saheeli, Sublime Artificer
– War of the Spark

Commander [EDH]: 3.88
Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale. 1 is bad. 3 is average. 5 is great.
Servos are great. Making a steady stream of them is even better.
The idea behind Saheeli, Sublime Artificer is to have temporary copies of things by using artifacts…and she supplies some on her own, thanks to all the Servo tokens she can make. Copying a big beater or a powerful artifact for a turn is pretty nice, though maybe a bit awkward to try and make work when cast on curve. But a stream of tokens for doing what red/blue wants to normally do (cast lots of spells) is pretty legit, and I could see Saheeli as a one-of for her token generation in a deck.
It’s easy to overlook some of War of the Spark‘s uncommon planeswalkers. Not just because of the color of their expansion symbol – lacking any kind of loyalty-raising abilities feels hazardous in a world where Standard features Siege-Gang Commander, Commander features Magmaquake, and Filth Casserole features Lightning Bolt. But Saheeli is one of the most low-key dangerous cards in the set. A continuous stream of tokens helps blue and/or red decks keep up in the creature race, and her -2 ability was just made for fun combos. Turning one of those Servos into a second Panharmonicon or Rings of Brighthearth will make for huge turns, and if for some reason you ever need a second Blightsteel Colossus, this is a good way to get one. And if all that wasn’t enough, Tezzeret is bringing affinity for artifacts back to Standard . . .
