Rokket Tracer
– #SDRR-EN002

(Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-up card you control; destroy it, and if you do, Special Summon 1 “Rokket” monster from your Deck, except “Rokket Tracer”, also you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters. You can only use this effect of “Rokket Tracer” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Rokket Tracer is a propelling force in the Rokket archetype.

Good stats, Tuner for your Synchro summon needs, Dragon support behind it, and the quick effect to set off your other Rokket monsters during each turn’s End Phase to get another monster from the deck. Tracer Special Summons a Rokket, then you’ll get another off the Rokket monster you likely destroy with this effect at the End Phase. When done during your opponents turn you should be set up for your Extra Deck summon(s) during your turn, and set off the first effect of any of your main deck Rokket monsters. Even when using it on your turn you can set up your field for a Borrel monster summon from the Extra Deck and recoup a monster during the End Phase of your turn. Locking yourself into DARK monsters from the Extra Deck isn’t bad either, you have several options that aren’t even pertaining to the archetype to summon.

Great card to get something out of your Rokkets when you don’t have a Link monster to activate their first effects. Reminds of those monsters back in the day that couldn’t be summoned by the generic Type search cards (Emissary of the Afterlife outside of Mystic Tomato’s range).

The next Rokket we look at is the second Tuner the archetype gets, and one that helps it better than their previous Tuner, Rokket Tracer.

Rokket Tracer is a Level 4 DARK Dragon Tuner with 1600 ATK and 1000 DEF. DARK and Dragon still good, kinda balanced stats for a Level 4 as well, and Level 4 Tuners are always fun. Rokket Tracer has a Quick Effect that’s a hard once per turn where you can target a face-up card on the field and destroy it, and if you do you get to summon any Rokket monster from your deck excluding Rokket Tracer and you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn that aren’t DARK monsters. So the obvious out of the way, you can destroy other Rokket monsters to get Rokkets out of the deck with this, so if you had a Rokket that isn’t as useful, you could trade it in on your turn or your opponent’s turn to get a Rokket you could make use of and then at the End Phase the Rokket you destroyed would get you another Rokket as well. Another cool thing you can do with this is activate a Spell like Allure of Darkness or Quick Launch, and then chain this to destroy said Spell and summon a Rokket while still getting the effect of the Spell you activated, bar the fact it was a Continuous or Field Spell. This opens up plays with stuff like the Guardragons, and we know how amazing those are, and later climb into Borreload or Borrelsword Dragon after you’re done with them. This can also summon a lot of Level 4 monsters from the deck so you can Synchro Summon something like Borreload Savage Dragon and being Level 4 itself means you can also Xyz Summon Borreload eXcharge Dragon if you opt to play it, and being a DARK Dragon like the other Rokkets also includes an option to Fusion Summon your Borreload Furious Dragon. The limitation to DARK monsters from the Extra Deck is fine considering most good Extra Deck monsters are of the DARK attribute that you might play. Rokket Tracer is easily the best card in the Structure Deck and I see it making a meta impact in Dragon decks like we see in OCG Dragon Link decks.

Art: 4.25/5 It’s fast like a rocket, Rokket Tracer himself and his effect.

Yesterdays card was good, this card is very good.  Rokket Tracer is a Level 4, Dark, Dragon Monster, who also benefits from being a Tuner.  1600 attack isn’t as good as the 1900 from yesterday, but still decent, and the 1000 defense is a big improvement too.  First we see a similar effect to yesterday, this also being a Quick effect, right off the bat.

By targeting and destroying a face-up card you control (ANY card, not even a theme card, just any old card) to Special Summon a theme Monster from your Deck, other than this one.  That’s a 1-for-1 and as you should be aware from yesterday, Rokkets like to destroy each other and themselves in order to make other things happen, as you see here, too.

You then can only Special Summon Dark Monsters from your Extra Deck for the rest of the turn, but that’s not an issue.  Your Extra Deck for the Theme, or even hybrids (say building up to something like Borrlesword, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, Borreload Furious Dragon, Borreload Savage Dragon, Topologic Bomber Dragon) and so on and so forth.  Whatever you happen to be using.  Great card, very fast, destroys, love it.

Art:  5/5  This card picture is great compared to yesterday.  Love the red, get a much bigger and more appropriate Rokket feel here.  Love the bright blue streaks showing this is at flight.
