Relicanth (SW – Darkness Ablaze 040/189) is a bit of Rare Fossil support.  Specifically, its first attack lets you search your deck for two Rare Fossil cards and Bench them.  Priced at [C], on a 90 HP a.k.a. Level Ball legal Basic Pokémon, this ain’t bad.  What’s more, there’s a decent chance you’ll need a bit of Basic filler if you’re running a deck built around Fossil Pokémon, as they themselves aren’t Basics.  Is it a staple for Rare Fossil decks?  Are there competitive decks built around Rare Fossil Pokémon?  I don’t think there are, and if there were, Relicanth is still probably optional.  I mean, would you rather run this and give up an attack, run Cara Liss and give up a Supporter, or just rely on draw power/other search to get your Rare Fossil-derived Pokémon up and running?

Still, I figured it was worth a quick review and Rating, so I don’t have to say as much every time we review something that evolves from Rare Fossil.  Also, another chance to point out the powers-that-be are trying what didn’t really work before, making all Fossil Pokémon evolve from Item cards you field like Pokémon.  Quit forcing stuff to be Stage 1 or Stage 2 Pokémon that ought to be Basics and Stage 1s, then slap a “Fossil” label on them somewhere so they can access some shared support.
