Pendulum Evolution – #AGOV-EN047

You can shuffle 1 Pendulum Monster from your hand into the Deck; add 1 Pendulum Monster with 2500 ATK and a different name, from your Deck to your hand. During your Main Phase, if you Special Summoned a Pendulum Monster from the face-down Extra Deck this turn, you can: Immediately after this effect resolves, Pendulum Summon a monster(s). You can target 1 “Supreme King Z-ARC” you control; this turn, it can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each. You can only use each effect of “Pendulum Evolution” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Pendulum Evolution is a direct searcher for Gate Magician.

Continuous Spell that allows you to shuffle back a Pendulum from your hand to add a Pendulum with 2500ATK each turn. There are several options to choose from, and this card could see play in another archetype or two, but in this one you are likely searching out Astrograph Sorcerer or Gate Magician.

Getting a Pendulum Summon off summoning a Pendulum that started in the Extra Deck eliminates the need for your scales and gives you a second Pendulum Summon potentially each turn as long as you keep summoning Pendulum Monster(s) that are face-down in the Extra Deck. D/D/D’s, Odd-Eyes, and Z-ARC are the archetypes that best attain this ability, each having multiple monsters in the Extra Deck at the start of the duel, while Z-ARC may only have himself, but he is the archetype. Double the Pendulum Summons means double the potential to make bigger monsters, double the effect(s), and gives you a better shot at getting to Z-ARC.

Now, if you already have Z-ARC on the field, Pendulum Evolution can give your beatstick of a monster the ability to attack all monsters this turn. Handy if summon Z-ARC to a field full of monsters and its effect to wipe the board gets negated. This seems like a cover option because your opponent is very likely to negate Z-ARC when it hits the field. It will be difficult to negate since it has targeting protection from your opponent, but it isn’t impossible to do.

The extra Pendulum Summon potential of Pendulum Evolution is just as good as its search ability. Most Pendulum Decks play Astrograph Sorcerer, so this can see play in pretty much everything that plays Pendulum. The extra Pendulum Summon may not be attainable for all Pendulum payers, though I could see them making exceptions to be able to get two Pendulum Summons a turn. Extra attacking ability for Z-ARC hurts your opponent’s chances even more at surviving once it hits the field. Great card for Z-ARC decks.

The latest addition to the catalogue of naming cards after sets (or in the OCG’s case a Structure Deck) we got a new Spell for Z-ARC in Pendulum Evolution.

Pendulum Evolution is a Continuous Spell that lets you shuffle a Pendulum Monster from your hand into the Deck to add a Pendulum Monster with 2500 ATK and a different name to your hand. Mainly a searcher for Astrograph Sorcerer and Supreme King Gate Magician, with the latter actually being able to search this fairly easy. You can get Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, which is funny, but you mainly go for the two previously mentioned cards. The second effect triggers during the Main Phase if you summon a Pendulum Monster that was face-down in the Extra Deck, letting you immediately Pendulum Summon after the summon resolves. Basically summon your Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Pendulums, you get an extra Pendulum Summon, which is nice if you still got monsters to summon. Finally, you can target a Supreme King Z-ARC and let it attack all face-up monsters you control once each that turn, which means Z-ARC is likely running over all of those monsters. Hard once per turn on each effect, of course. The first effect is the best effect for getting to some of your better monsters at least, the second and third are just nice bonuses if you can pull them off. It’s nothing insane, but you can’t complain about another way to search for Astrograph Sorcerer.

Our Supreme King support coverage continues with Pendulum Evolution (not to be confused with the set), a Continuous Spell searchable by Duelist Alliance as well as Supreme King Gate Magician since it mentions Supreme King Z-ARC. Pendulum Evolution has a whopping three hard once per turn effects. The first effect lets you shuffle a Pendulum monster from your hand into the deck to search a Pendulum monster with 2500 attack with a different name. The primary intent, of course, is to search Supreme King Gate Magician, but you can also grab Astrograph Sorcerer and a few Odd-Eyes monsters if necessary. Gate Magician is still your main priority as an essential combo starter, though! Pendulum Evolution’s second effect triggers if you Special Summon a Pendulum monster from face-down in your Extra Deck during your Main Phase, letting you immediately perform a Pendulum Summon. This effect can let you extend into some insane combos, but you’ll have to summon Z-ARC itself, or any of the other Pendulum hybrids first to take advantage of it, and only Clear Wing Fast Dragon is particularly notable among them. Pendulum Evolution’s final effect lets you target one of your Z-ARCs and lets it attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. With Z-ARC’s highly impressive 4000 attack, this can easily close out the game, though you could probably already do that by summoning Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon. Pendulum Evolution is fairly useful and can be a consistency booster as more copies of Gate Magician; the other effects aren’t useless, but they’re not the main reasons to run it. You can get away with not running it at all depending on your combo lines, but running anywhere from 1 to 3 for added consistency is a fair decision.
