Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon Overlord

Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon Overlord – #GFP2-EN004

Pendulum Effect – Once per turn: You can Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone, then Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 “Rebellion” or “The Phantom Knights” monster, using this card as material (this is treated as an Xyz Summon), then you can attach 1 card from your Pendulum Zone to it as material.
Monster Effect – 2 Level 7 monsters – You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a “Rebellion” Xyz Monster you control as material. (Transfer its materials to this card.) If you can Pendulum Summon Level 7, you can Pendulum Summon this face-up card from your Extra Deck. This card that was Xyz Summoned using a Rank 7 Xyz Monster as material can make up to 3 attacks during each Battle Phase. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone. You can only Special Summon “Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon Overlord(s)” once per turn.

Arc-V this weekend for the retrained cards starting with the brand new Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon retrain: Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon Overlord.

Overlord is a Rank 7 Scale 4 DARK Dragon Pendulum Xyz with 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF. Good stats for a Rank 7 at least, but Scale 4 is kind of not great, but at least it’s a DARK Dragon. To summon this, you either use 2 Level 7 monsters or Xyz Summon this thing on top of any Rebellion Xyz monster you control as material alongside its Xyz Materials. The Pendulum Effect is a soft once per turn to Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone and then Special Summon from your Extra Deck any Rebellion or The Phantom Knights Xyz by using this as material and treating it as an Xyz Summon, then you can attach a card from your Pendulum Zone to it as material. It’s a solid effect to get some of your other Xyzs out after this is destroyed and put in the Pendulum Zone, and it also helps trigger Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon’s effect since you use this as material. Monster effect is where if this was Xyz Summoned using a Rank 7 Xyz, it can make up to 3 attacks during each Battle Phase, which should help get an easy OTK since this does have 3000 ATK. Second effect puts it in the Pendulum Zone if destroyed in the Monster Zone, standard for Pendulums from the Extra Deck, and you can only Special Summon this once per turn, probably for balancing purposes. It’s a nice card to be honest. Allows for some cool options, and at worst it’s another Zeus material to help get more board wipes. It’s nothing broken, but it’s not bad and a nice retrain from the original that works with said original.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 4/5 It’s not any different from the original, just in a different pose. Almost like an alternate art.

You see an Odd Eyes card and just KNOW at least part of it has to be Pendulum.  As our set of weekend reviews continues, we have a Pendulum/XYZ Monster in Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon Overlord.  The XYZ side of this card is Rank 7, Dark/Dragon (who you know make love to each other down by the fire) with a great BEWD atk/def.  Any two generic Level 7s can XYZ Summon this card.  You can use a ‘Rebellion’ XYZ Monster to bring this card out, and assistance in Summoning your XYZ Monsters, especially those of higher ranks, is appreciated.  We also see you can Pendulum Summon this card from the Extra Deck, so long as you’re able to Pendulum Summon to/at Level 7.  Which gives you another ease of option in bringing this card out, so that’s nice too.  This card can make THREE (yes three) attacks during a Battle Phase, so long as you used a Rank 7 XYZ as a Material.  So for your investment, that should be a OTK as long as you have Effects and the back row in check.  They don’t have to be in succession, and they can all be direct attacks, if necessary.  That’s 9000 Damage on the latter there.  If destroyed, you can cycle this to the Pendulum Zone, which is helpful, and you can only Special Summon one of these a Turn.  Which makes sense, the three attacks aside, it also prevents you from having this in the Monster Zone and Pendulum Zone simultaneously.

On the Pendulum Side, for some reason, this card is only a 4 on the scale.  Which…is something, not so good, but not terrible.  You can (once per Turn) Special Summon this from your Pendulum Zone and then Special Summon a Rebellion or Phantom Knight Monster from your Extra Deck, but you must use this card as Material for whatever you bring out via this Effect.  Simple enough, and fair, too, and it’s a nice enough way to bring something else out from your Extra Deck.  This is considered an XYZ Summon, and additionally, you can add a Pendulum from your Zone to the Special Summoned Monster as Material.  So the assist in Material is certainly welcome given the alternate Summoning method here.  I think the money here is in the Monster side of things, but the Pendulum side isn’t without use.

Rating:  3/5

Art:  4/5  Nothing to not like here really, just nothing stands out in greatness to me, either.
