I was about to start typing something about the dream being to draw six cards – then I realized there’s also flashback, so the dream is actually to draw twelve cards! That may be unlikely, but six is still a lot and combined with getting to look twice, this is about as close as you can get to a certain thing without an actual tutor effect. (Wilds of Eldraine has something which tries to make it even more certain, but I find the effect more comical than anything else – remind me to tell you more about that sometime). And if your deck is based on creature type synergy, that will most likely be enough to win the game, or at least change it.

Constructed: 2.5 (good effect, but probably slow for Legacy)
Casual: 4
Limited: N/A (though I could see it being a draft powerhouse in the right set – think Kaldheim)
Multiplayer: 3.5
Commander [EDH]: 3.5

For the Ancestors hearkens back a bit to Collected Company, which was…maybe a bit strong. This is nowhere near as powerful, but it still has some intrigue to it. If you get lucky (or unlucky), this can be as high as a +5, and decks that have a high density of a particular creature type can easily come out ahead on this. Giving this flashback also helps it to be subtly powerful, particularly at instant speed. The main downside here is that it relies heavily on a homogeneous deck to really hit the jackpot, and while I think there might be a home for this in Elves somewhere in Legacy, it’s a card that demands a lot to be really useful. It has intrigue and is not weak, but I’m not sold on it smashing Legacy.

Constructed: 3
Casual: 4.25
Limited: N/A (depends on the Limited, might be between a 3 and a 4)
Multiplayer: 3.5
Commander [EDH]: 4 (not for every deck, but this can be quite vicious in the right deck)
