Drafna is designed like a card from Antiquities – if you’re not familiar with the set, every single card in it is either an artifact or has the word “artifact” somewhere on it. When I make that comparison, I mean it in a good way: Drafna leans into a theme hard, and gets better as you add more sets to the equation via new releases or old classics. He can be used equally well on offense or defense, so to speak; the latter is less purely strong than the things which, say, grant shroud or hexproof, but is perhaps fairer. And besides, it makes him very close to being a one-card combo, in a great color for artifact-based combos (especially when he can be your commander).

Commander [EDH]: 4 (one word: Panharmonicon)

Drafna’s suite of abilities are certainly well-suited to playing well in a set like this one, aren’t they? Protection for your own artifacts, as well as additional copies of them, can snowball very quickly, particularly with all of the Powerstones running around, and it’s not too hard to turn an opening into a massive problem. While the body is fragile, Drafna does ask for immediate answers all the same. I feel like he might not have the speed to compete in Modern, but Standard and Pioneer are more than attainable for him, and any deck that can give him the space to work can exploit his talents to comic effect.

Constructed: 3.5
Casual: 4.5
Limited: 4.75 (not going to win games alone, but a phenomenal build-around)
Multiplayer: 3.5
Commander [EDH]: 4 (plenty of Rude artifacts to copy)
