Chien-Pao ex (SV Paldea Evolved 61/193) is another one of those anticipated cards of the set. A Basic Water type with 220 HP, Metal Weakness, and a retreat cost of CC, it has an ability and an attack. Its Silvery Chill ability states that if this Pokemon is in the Active Spot, you get to search your deck for up to 2 Basic Water energies and put them into your hand. And its Hail Blade costs WW and does 60 damage times the number of water energies discarded from your Pokemon.

Chien-Pao will definitely replace Kyurem VMAX for sure when it comes to Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR based decks. While both Kyurem and Chien-Pao provides limitless damage capacity, Chien-Pao is more flexible and gives up less prizes than Kyurem. All it takes is to discard six water energies from your Pokemon, and it’ll OHKO anything in the game! Depending on how you deal with recovery options, Hail Blade may or may not be easy to repeatedly use. Standard has Energy Carnival Quaquaval, Melony for Pokemon-V, and Palkia’s Star Portal VSTAR Power. Expanded has Aqua Patch, Max Elixir, and Deluge Blastoise. Seems like you’re covered on energy attachments and recovery for both formats!

With a new partner in tow, water-based decks are in for a bigger splash than before!
