Hello Pojo Fans,
Trickstar Noble Angel is a great retrain of Holly Angel, and ends our look at Trickstar.
Same everything to start the card, but Noble Angel does more offensively than Holly Angel who protects. A “Blue Tears” card searcher off her Link Summon, this is the way to get to Angel of Blue Tears, which can get you to Maiden of Blue Tears (which can be activated that turn if set from the hand via Angel of Blue Tears). That is a double deck-thin for the cost of summoning Noble Angel, a break even if you had to use two cards from hand.
Special Summoning a Trickstar from the grave can get you to link climb, and having a Fusion Monster even in this archetype isn’t too hard. Instant Fusion remains an option as the effect doesn’t require a Trickstar monster, and you have two in the archetype now as well as their own Normal “Fusion” Spell to search, a Trap that can Fusion Summon one of them, and the lack of Trickstar requirement for the Fusion Monster enables something like Super Poly to be played as well.
Now onto the effect damage effect, because that’s the archetype’s strategy. Finally a spot removal for Trickstar. Whenever you inflict effect damage you can destroy a face-up card on the field. Balanced ability since you cannot use it multiple times per turn or target your own cards for destruction, but this is all-but a guarantee to happen with how many ways they can inflict damage.
It’s nice to see spot removal finally be introduced into the archetype, but they still lack negation. The revamp of Holly Angel does offer more offense in conjunction with the effect damage strategy, and the archetype can spam out monsters to aid it with more support. However, as a stand-alone archetype it lacks protection/negation and that remains a problem as archetypes need at least one big monster to do that. Maybe they’ll get that in the hopefully near future?

We end the week off with a Holly Angel retrain in the form of Trickstar Noble Angel.
Noble Angel is basically the same as Holly Angel in terms of stats. Same ATK, Type & Attribute, Link Arrows, and even the summoning requirements. Upon Link Summon, you can add any Blue Tears card from your Deck to your hand, which is likely Maiden of Blue Tears for the removal and burn. If you have a Fusion Monster on the field or in the graveyard, you can target a Trickstar monster in your graveyard and revive it, giving you more Link Material and the Fusion stuff in Trickstar is easier to play with Hoody searching for both Trickstar Fusion and Trickstar Diffusion to summon your Fusion Monster, and Trickstar Band Drumatis being a much easier, and honestly better, Fusion to summon compared to Sweet Guitar. Finally, if effect damage is inflicted, you can target and destroy a face-up card on the field, which is perfect in a Deck that feels like it deals burn damage every second in the game. HOPT on each effect, since they are better than what Holly Angel has with no HOPTs on her. Noble Angel is another good Link-2 in a Deck with a few decent Link-2s. It’s a searcher for the Blue Tears cards, can get you a Trickstar back if you got access to your Fusion Cards, and is removal for dealing your regular burn damage. Another Trickstar staple in the Extra Deck for an archetype with a ton of Links, and now having to make room for Fusions as well (at least for Drumatis).

I didn’t give Trickstar Holly Angel a great score, but I have more positive things to say about its retrain, Trickstar Noble Angel! Noble Angel is a new sub-boss for the Trickstar archetype, again a Link 2 LIGHT Fairy Link monster that’ll take any 2 Trickstars, so fielding it shouldn’t be hard at all thanks to Trickstar Hoody and Trickstar Aqua Angel. I shouldn’t have to explain the bottom left and bottom right arrows again. Noble Angel keeps the 2000 attack as well, which again means you’ll probably rely on beater Link monsters, but I did forget to mention that Trickstar Band Drumatis does help with offensive pressure a bit. Just a bit.
Noble Angel comes with 3 hard once per turn effects this time around; the first effect triggers if it’s Link Summoned to search any Blue Tears card. If you’re confident in your ability to discard it inflict effect damage this turn, you can search Angel of Blue Tears then grab Maiden of Blue Tears, but this is very awkward and requires external help, so usually it’s easier to just directly search Maiden of Blue Tears for disruption, then worry about the loop later if you survive that long. Noble Angel’s second effect will let you target and Special Summon any Trickstar monster in your Graveyard as long as you have any Fusion monster on your field or in your Graveyard. You might have noticed that I did not mention Trickstar Diffusion all week, and that’s because I despise that they made it a TRAP for some bizarre reason. While Drumatis is a very solid monster, I find it very awkward to integrate it into combos. Noble Angel will at least help recuperate some of the resources you’ve spent to summon Drumatis. Noble Angel’s final effect is very much appreciated, triggering if either player takes effect damage to let you target and destroy any face-up card on the field. It’s simple, but strong and practically necessary since the deck is starving for disruptions otherwise. There’s no shortage of ways to inflict burn damage on either turn, but this effect combos nicely with Maiden of Blue Tears. Ideally you’ll want to end on Noble Angel pointing at Drumatis with Maiden of Blue Tears set, since that’ll give Noble Angel a solid 3000 attack stat and 2 disruptions at the minimum, though again, you’ll have to go through the trouble of fielding Drumatis. Noble Angel, and the rest of the wave in general, do a lot to help modernize the deck from a burn FTK gimmick, though it’s still not quite enough considering the deck still has a lot of mediocre cards. You can tell Tachyon was the golden child of this set! Back on topic, you’ll definitely play at least 1, maybe even 2 if you’re scared of Kashtira Unicorn.
+Easy to summon and accesses Blue Tears cards
+Effectively provides 2 disruptions by itself
-Poor stats for an endboard piece without help from Drumatis
-Requires a Fusion monster to make full use of it

Art: 4.25/5 It’s basically the alt art of the original Holly Angel, which is a little boring but at least it still looks good!
