Hello Pojo Fans,

Mitsurugi Mirror is your newest card to Ritual Summon a Reptile Monsters.

A Ritual Spell that allows you to exceed the Levels needed to Ritual Summon a Reptile Monsters, Mirror has a leg up on the other Ritual Spells within the Mitsurugi archetype in that aspect…though that hasn’t slowed it down in its pure form or being used as tech choices throughout the meta. Where Mitsurugi Ritual can Ritual Summon from hand or Deck, Mirror can Ritual Summon from hand or graveyard…as if this archetype needed any more advantage. Now, you can run Trade-In without any consequences in Pure Mitsurugi or a mixture with Ogdoadic.

Second ability makes Mirror a likely addition to the archetypes that tech Mitsurugi into their builds: if any of the Mitsurugi Ritual Monsters are tributed while you control them, Mirror gets added back from the grave to the Deck. Sure, it isn’t summoning from the Deck like Ritual can do, but Ritual cannot add itself back to the Deck, and it isn’t like you aren’t tributing one of the Mitsurugi Ritual Monsters to get their amazing secondary effect(s) activated. The exceed Levels needed for Ritual Summon again, it isn’t really a concern as Mitsurugi are tech cards in Level 4-based archetypes or pure Reptile builds. Adding this card back to the Deck allows you to play one copy of it and be able to search it with pretty much any Mitsurugi card you have in the Deck, on top of your Mitsurugi Ritual gaining you advantage.

A for-sure card in Pure Mitsurugi, and I would think a one-of in archetypes teching Mitsurugi right now. Cycling itself back from the grave when one of your Ritual Monsters get tributed only adds to the advantage you are about to gain from that happening. Would it have been better had it been added directly to hand? Of course, but that wouldn’t be fair, there has to (usually) be a balance. Exceeding Levels required for a Ritual Summon isn’t too much of a big deal, but it’s nice to have as you could fire off all three Level 4 Main Deck Mitsurugi monsters for a Level 8 Ritual Summon if you really wanted that advantage.

Next up we get a second Ritual Spell for the Mitsurugi archetype that gives extra utility to the Deck it didn’t have before: Mitsurugi Mirror.

Mitsurugi Mirror is a Ritual Spell that lets you Ritual Summon any Reptile Ritual from your hand or graveyard by tribtuing Reptiles from your hand or field whose combined Levels equal or exceed that of your Ritual Monster. Basically a generic Ritual Spell, except you get the graveyard for Ritual Summoning access in exchange for only being able to use Reptiles to Ritual Summon. I don’t think there’s any generic Reptile Rituals, so you’re mainly sticking with Mitsurugi, but I can see a generic Reptile Ritual coming soon. If Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi, Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi, or Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi you control is tributed while this is in your graveyard, you can shuffle it back into the Deck. Nice the Ritual Spell can return to the Deck for tributing your Rituals, which you will likely do often for their search and revival effects, but the important part is actually mentioning the archetype’s 3 Rituals by name on this card because now you can run Pre-Preparation of Rites with Mitsurugi for extra consistency, which is more relelvant for pure variants of Mitsurugi or depending on how big you want your Mitsurugi package to be in the Deck. HOPT on each effect is fine. Mirror is a nice Ritual Spell to add to the Deck, letting you Ritual Summon from hand or grave while also putting itself back in the Deck and mentioning the Rituals so you can Pre-Prep. The recovery it has makes it so you only need 1, it’s best for the Pre-Prep access but also good when you already used the 2 effects of Mitsurugi Ritual in a turn.

Today’s card is a bit more simple, but very useful nonetheless; Mitusrugi gets its second Ritual Spell with Mitsurugi Mirror. While you can still search it normally with Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji and the Tribute effect of all of the Ritual monsters, the most relevant way to search it is Pre-Preparation of Rites, which we’ll touch on in a bit. Mirror comes with 2 hard once per turn effects as usual. The first effect will let you Ritual Summon any Reptile Ritual monster from your hand or Graveyard by Tributing materials from your hand or field to equal or exceed the level of the target monster (so basically, 8, for all intents and purposes). This rounds out coverage with Mitsurugi Ritual, since while Ritual is a fantastic card, it couldn’t Ritual Summon from the Graveyard so you had to rely on Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi or Mitsurugi Prayers (for good reason, otherwise it’d be even more overpowered!). It’s also a guilt-free way to Tribute Mitsurugi no Miko, Wousu without wasting a Tribute from the deck with Ritual. Perhaps the more exciting part about Mirror is its other effect, triggering in the Graveyard if Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi, or Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi are Tributed, letting you simply shuffle it back into the deck. Cards that recycle themselves are always nice, but as you might’ve guessed, the killer part is that it mentions all 3 of the Mitsurugi Ritual monsters by name, which means Pre-Preparation of Rites, baby! Enabling Pre-Prep to search Habakiri alone would make this a strong consideration in pure builds, but the Ritual Summon itself is a strong effect on its own too. Personally, almost any build, even hybrid builds, should be running at least 1 Mirror just because it recycles itself and can effectively revive your Ritual monsters, and if you’re playing pure, you might as well play 3 Pre-Prep too.

+Enables Pre-Preparation of Rites to search Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi
+Excellent in longer games due to Ritual Summoning from the Graveyard and recycling itself
-Not as versatile as Mitsurugi Ritual
-Self-recycle is conditional
