Hello Pojo Fans,
Jurrac Meteor was mentioned yesterday and is our Throwback Thursday choice this week.
Level 10 Synchro Dinosaur that is specific to the Jurrac archetype, as it requires a Jurrac Tuner, Meteor is exactly that: ka-boom. Once you use a Jurrac Tuner and two or more non Tuner Dinosaur monsters to Synchro Summon Meteor, it hits the field and makes everything go boom. It isn’t a complete wash for you though, you get a Tuner from your grave to Special Summon, though you do lose Meteor as well.
Losing a Level 10 with 2800ATK isn’t the greatest effect, but if it can board-wipe the opponent and then get you the only monster on the field, then that is an advantage for you. It can be any Tuner monster you may have used, but naturally in a Jurrac-based deck is it going to be a Jurrac Tuner. Of the many choices you have at your disposal, Jurrac Megalo stand above them all for its discard two to draw two ability. Jurrac Aeolo comes in second with the ability to tribute itself to Special Summon a Jurrac Level 4 or lower from your grave, but that would be only good for closing out a game with brute damage. When combined with Jurrac Volcano though, the Tuner you Special Summon becomes a searcher for any Jurrac in your Deck, though this still makes Megalo the best choice.
Good Level 10, but to lose it immediately if Synchro Summoned is a tough pill to swallow. Sure, you take the board with you and get a Tuner back and, if Megalo, can help you regain advantage. If Special Summoned using Jurrac Volcano, you are interacting during your opponent’s turn and drastically altering their plays for the turn if successful. Tomorrow’s CoTD is a better Level 10 for Jurrac within the archetype and can summon Jurrac Meteor like Jurrac Volcano, only much easier.

Throwback Thursday brings us to one of the two old Jurracs that remains playable, or in this case actually became more playable: Jurrac Meteor.
Jurrac Meteor is a Level 10 FIRE Dinosaur Synchro with 2800 ATK and 2000 DEF. Fine stats for a Level 10, plus FIRE Dinosaur is fine. Materials are any Jurrac Tuner and any 2+ non-Tuner Dinosaur monsters, which is about as far from generic as you can get, so honestly you’ll most likely see this summoned off the new ways to get it out on the opponent’s turn. If Synchro Summoned, you destroy all cards on the field and get to summon a Tuner from your graveyard in return. It’s mandiatory, so this touches down and the whole field is going to be gone, whatever you or your opponent had. It wasn’t too great back when it was printed, hard to summon and likely left you with next to nothing unless you had extenders to go with the Tuner you revive, which were less common in 2011. Now, you at least get to summon this on the opponent’s turn, likely as a final piece of disruption if everything else you have doesn’t stop them in their tracks, and you get the Tuner back for the start of your turn to set up a similar end goal. You are honestly rarely if ever properly Synchro Summoning this, but it’s at least playable now and a board wipe is more devastating on the opponent’s turn than it is yours. Play a number depending on how tight the Extra Deck is for you and how much you want to dedicate to nuking the board, which most Dino players using Jurracs are going for the complete max.
Advanced Rating: 3.75/5
Art: 4/5 for both arts, it’s nice to see what’s in the Meteor now after all these years.

The only Jurrac card to age surprisingly well aside from Jurrac Aeolo, Throwback Thursday brings us the cornerstone of the new Jurrac support, their former “boss” monster (charitably speaking), Jurrac Meteor. It’s a level 10 FIRE Dinosaur Synchro monster, and even with the new support is deceptively difficult to make; it’ll take a Jurrac Tuner and 2 or more non-Tuner Dinosaur monsters. While you could summon it manually with Jurrac Stego by sending a level 10 Dinosaur like Ultimate Conductor Tyranno or Kyoro Ryu-Ge Kaiva, it’s much easier to use Jurrac Volcano or Jurrac Astero to cheat it out. Its stats are a little unimpressive for a level 10 monster, with only 2800 attack and 2000 defense– thankfully, if you’re playing Jurrac correctly, you’ll have plenty more muscle to make up for it.
In typical Duel Terminal fashion, Meteor has a single non-once per turn effect, triggering if it’s Synchro Summoned to let you destroy all cards on the field, then Special Summon any Tuner from your Graveyard. The original intent of this card is to nuke the board, then hopefully rebuild your own board before your opponent can…which is much easier said than done considering how laughably bad most Jurrac monsters were. As good as Jurrac Aeolo is, you were still unlikely to rebuild your board before your opponent could– and that’s assuming you somehow managed to get to Meteor in the first place. Now, Meteor is a pivotal disruption for Jurrac now that we have not 1, but 2 ways to cheat it out during your opponent’s turn: Volcano, and Astero. As a bonus, you won’t even have to start from almost nothing anymore since Volcano will protect your board (which, granted, will often just be Astero). Volcano unfortunately will only protect Jurrac monsters, so if you summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno or Overtex Qoatlus, they will likely meet their end along with your opponent’s board. On the plus side, it’s not too big of a deal since you can revive Jurrac Aeolo, which can later revive Jurrac Stego for follow-up and easily summon enough bodies to OTK. It’s definitely possible to use it twice in one turn, though I don’t really recommend it since you’d likely have to use Volcano first, as Meteor will destroy Volcano as soon as it’s summoned. I’m a big fan of old cards gaining new life through modern card design, and Meteor is no exception. Considering how often you’ll be able to summon Meteor, I would unironically recommend running 3 copies, since running out is a weirdly valid concern.
+Powerful nuke that can easily be cheated out during your opponent’s turn
+Tuner revive sets up excellent follow-up through Jurrac Aeolo
-Nuke can backfire if you use non-Jurrac monsters like UCT and Overtex Qoatlus
-Very difficult to make manually
Advanced: 3.75/5
Art: 2.75/5 (Original) I’ll be honest, even owning this card as a kid I never noticed there was an actual dinosaur inside the meteor.
4.25/5 (Alternate) Now this is a dinosaur! Supposedly, it’s an upgraded form of Jurrac Titano, which is clearly a lot more obvious here.
