Goldlust Triad catches my attention for being quite good in multiplayer formats and rather solid even in 1v1, if you’re willing to ignore the myriad ability being essentially blank there. The Treasure generation on combat damage is not bad in any context, although it’s more essential in Commander and similar settings: if you already have a 4/3 flying creature against just one opponent, you’re already in a good position and probably don’t need to ramp that much more. It definitely helps shore up a problem inherent to every deck in multiplayer, where you are inevitably behind in mana on aggregate, and even a single attack hitting more than one opponent can set up a big turn or better defenses for the nex turn cycle.

All of this week’s new cards are from the Commander subset, so scores reflect legality in Commander and eternal formats. The Limited score should be taken loosely, since Commander cards appear rarely in Play boosters.

Here to swoop, make treasures, and swoop some more, Goldlust Triad is a fun way to keep the mana flowing in a tribe that tends to demand higher mana expenditures. Myriad means this gets to swoop on every opponent with each combat,  and it provides healthy incentive to keep swooping. The main issue here is that this is a touch pricey, and the body is a bit spurious; 3 toughness is a liability on a creature that costs so much, and it’s not too tricky to end the swooping early. All the same, it’s still a powerful creature if it has a chance to live, and red does have the means to give this the haste it sorey wants.

Constructed: 1 (underwhelming body, expensive, and dies to Lightning Bolt)
Casual: 4
Limited: 3 (not the best dragon, but the mana generation can be nice)
Multiplayer: 4
Commander [EDH]: 4
