Dodododo Warrior

Dodododo Warrior – #DUAD-EN004

You can send 1 “Dododo” monster from your Deck to the GY; Special Summon this card from your hand (its Level becomes 4, also its ATK becomes 1800), also you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Xyz Monsters. If this card is detached from an Xyz Monster to activate that monster’s effect: You can add 1 “Zubaba” monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of “Dodododo Warrior” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Dodododo Warrior is a retrain of the same named monster, with just another “do” attached, but it is the better one.

Mentioned yesterday as a target for Gogogo Goblindbergh, Dodododo Warrior can send a Dododo monster from the Deck to the graveyard to Special Summon itself from the hand, but then locks you into Xyz Summons for the rest of the turn from the Extra Deck. This is a common restriction occuring within these four archetypes that are grouped together, and while it won’t slow them down, you’d like to get a Link Summon here and there. The ATK of Dodododo Warrior drops to 1800 when Special Summoned using this effect, as well as loses two Levels. Dropping two Levels helps it become more of a synergy option for Rank 4 Summons, and if you are deck thinning, a 500ATK drop isn’t anything to worry about, especially when Dodododo Warrior will be part of an Xyz Summon.

Of the choices for this monster to Foolish Burial, Dodododwarf Gogogoglove and Onomatokage can Special Summon themselves from the grave immediately because a Dododo is on the field, making for a Rank 4 Xyz Summon.

Like yesterday’s card, Dodododo Warrior has a search ability when detached as an Xyz Material: add any Zubaba monster from the Deck to the hand. The Gagagaga Girl Xyz Monster can get a search off the detachment of a material, and then get you another one if you select Dodododo Warrior. The best choice is Zubababa Knight, because it can search Zubababancho Gagagacoat and then change its Level to four, because that is what Gagagacoat is. Zubababancho Gagagacoat then can Special Summon itself because you have a Gagaga or Zubaba monster on the field, then can Special Summon a Dododo or Gagaga monster from the grave, which you would’ve detached. Sure, if you reborn this card it will have a Level of six, but Onomatopickup can change its Level to four, and even if you didn’t have that, you already have enough for a Rank 4 Summon with a Level 6 as an extra body.

Spamming the field with Xyz Material monsters is what these four archetypes do when mixed together. It is all about the right balance to make sure you don’t hit a wall. Dodododo Warrior can change its Level off its extender ability, prep your grave for more Special Summons or set up a target for after you Xyz Summon and detach and gain a search. These pieces are good, but they are far-better when you have the right combination in the Deck.

Gagaga’s aren’t the only ones getting an extra syllable added on as we now have a Dododo Warrior retrain into Dodododo Warrior.

Dodododo Warrior is a Level 6 EARTH Warrior with 2300 ATK and 900 DEF. Nice stats on a Level 6, and EARTH/Warrior is fine. First effect lets you send any Dododo monster from the Deck to the graveyard to Special Summon this directly from the hand as a Level 4 monster with 1800 ATK, which what mostly matters here is becoming a Level 4 while putting Dodododwarf Gogogoglove or Onomatokage in the graveyard to be revived with their own effects to get you to a Rank 4 Xyz once again. Again, we see the Xyz lock for the rest of the turn, which isn’t relevant in a Deck that’ll only use Xyz Monsters for their end board anyways. If this is detached as Xyz Material to activate a monster’s effect, you can add a Zubaba monster from the Deck to the hand, which Utopic Onomatopoeia and Onomatokage both qualify, but the main targets otherwise would be Zubababa Knight or Zubababancho Gagagacoat, all of which can extend Xyz plays even more. HOPT on both effects once again. The new Onomat support has breathed new life into making Rank 4s, whether adding itself to Ryzeal to top YCS events or being played pure for a rogue option. Dodododo Warrior is one of the best starters you can get since it doesn’t require you to usee your Normal Summon to kickstart your plays, the only downside being it isn’t naturally a Level 4 monster.

In Genesys, same applies as yesterday. Onomat is a better Deck over in that format, and therefore Dodododo Warrior is a better card.

Following up on Gogogo Goblindbergh is another retrain (get used to that), Dodododo Warrior, a level 6 EARTH Warrior monster like its original counterpart. Being level 6 probably raises some eyebrows, but it makes sense in the context of the original being level 6. Onamatopaira is once again your best bet for searching it, but Goblindbergh is also extremely helpful in some combo lines. Warrior’s stats have also been completely untouched, coming with a stat spread of a decent 2300 attack and horrible 900 defense. Let me be clear, you will basically never see this card with 2300 attack.

Warrior’s got 2 hard once per turn effects this time, and they’re actually useful unlike the original being actively detrimental to Yuma’s own deck. Its first effect will let you Special Summon it from your hand by sending a Dododo monster from your deck to the Graveyard, cutting its own attack to 1800 and level to 4 (see?) at the cost of locking you into Xyz monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn, again a meaningless lock in Onomat and its associated hybrids. Warrior might not have 3 effects, but it has the Circular spirit, because this’ll get Dodododwarf Gogogoglove into the Graveyard as cost and you’ll be able to summon Dwarf immediately to go into a Rank 4 Xyz like tomorrow’s card or, of course, Ryzeal Duo Drive. Dropping its own level and stats is a given, because otherwise it makes zero sense to have a level 6 monster in a Rank 4 deck. Warrior’s other effect should give you some deja vu, triggering if it’s detached as an Xyz material to activate that monster’s effect (again, watch out in Goblin hybrids!), searching a Zubaba monster from your deck. While you actually can search Utopic Onomatopoeia, the bigger target is Zubababancho Gagagacoat if you detached Warrior from tomorrow’s card, conveniently a Gagaga monster for Bancho. Otherwise, again, Onomatopoeia or Onomatokage are good secondary searches; you will probably not touch the other Zubaba monsters. The only weak link is that Warrior is level 6 by default and only lowers its level through its own effect, so if something goes wrong, you’ll usually be forced to modulate its level using Onomatopickup. But hey, in casual builds, Pickup can modulate your other monsters to level 6 to make Number 39: Utopia Beyond! Don’t do that, by the way. Warrior is such a great Rank 4 enabler even the Ryzeal hybrids play it at 3. It goes without saying pure builds will want to play 3, too.

+Powerful self-summoning effect that easily enables Rank 4 plays
+Absurd extending potential
-Can lead to awkward board states if you summon it without level modulating
