Allure Queen LV7 – #MZTM-EN065
Once per turn, if you control this card that was Special Summoned by the effect of “Allure Queen LV5”: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; equip that target to this card as an Equip Spell (max. 1). If this card would be destroyed by battle, destroy that equipped monster, instead.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Allure Queen LV7 is the Throwback Thursday choice this week as we are reviewing her newest form tomorrow and she got a reprint.
Relinquished-style effect for LV7, though you have to have summoned her using LV5, and to do that, LV5 needs to live to your Standby Phase while attached with a monster that she absorbed. This is a drawn-out way to say use Level Up to summon LV7 from LV5. Even for 2006 this was an awful card and one of the worst Level monster mechanics. With Silent Swordsman you got a monster immune to Spell Cards when Brain Control, Snatch Steal, Mind Control all were around and Brain Control was not errata’d. Armed Dragon remains a pretty decent monster in terms of the Level archetypes, especially with their newer variations, and even Silent Magician LV4 could gather Spell Counters quickly via other Spell Counter-producing effects to become LV8.
Allure Dance gives you the ability to Special Summon all the different forms of Allure Queen for the cost of one Spell/Trap, which is some good support, as well as the ATK boost to your Allure Queen in regards to whatever monster is attached to it. Allure Palace can also fast-track out your Allure Queen(s) that you need to facilitate certain effects. Chaos Allure Queen can is an extender, attacher of material, and Special Summoner of Allure Queen variations all in one, but we still aren’t getting that beautiful effect of “is treated as being summoned by Allure Queen LV5” like how Level Up does. Allure Queen LV3 can only attach a Level 3 or lower monster and LV5 needs to be properly summoned to be able to do her thing as well. Allure Palace can help you absorb your own Allure Queens but you still aren’t bypassing the requirements. Allure Palace should’ve just allowed this, especially with the ATK of LV7 being so low and having no protections outside battle.

With all the new Allure Queen cards from VRAINS finally being printed, Throwback Thursday this week brings us the boss of the Allure Queen line: Allure Queen LV7.
Allure Queen LV7 is a Level 7 DARK Spellcaster with 1500 ATK and DEF. Pretty bad stats for a Level 7, but DARK Spellcasters are always great. The only effect this has is a soft once per turn if you control this card that was summoned with Allure Queen LV5’s effect, letting you equip an opponent’s monster to this card (max. 1) where that card would be destroyed instead if this were to be destroyed in battle. Basically, it’s an interesting form of removal you have, equipping an opponent’s monster to this card instead of destroying it and putting it into the graveyard or banishment where it can trigger an effect, and there are cards that make good use of monsters in your Spell & Trap Zone. The main problem is you have to get a Level 5 or lower monster equipped to Allure Queen LV5 and wait til your Standby Phase to summon this, and to do that you must do the same with Allure Queen LV3, except with a Leve 3 or lower monster. Allure Palace does make this easier to pull off, along with eliminating the wait on the Allure Queens so you don’t have to hope they survive til the Standby Phase, but you still need the proper equip targets for your Allure Queens. Allure Dance also helps make this a bit more consistent, and Allure Palace summons your Allure Queens from the Deck up to thrice per turn. Chaos Allure Queen also helps with her equip effect and name changing, so it’s not as hard to pull this off as it once was. We do need a lot more Allure Queen cards to make this especially amazing, but as it stands the Allure Queens are far more playable than they once were.

This week’s Throwback Thursday is another one that’ll only make sense in the context of tomorrow’s card– we’ve got Allure Queen LV7 (no points for guessing what tomorrow’s card is going to be). As its name suggests, it’s a level 7 DARK Spellcaster from the Allure Queen archetype, serving as its former boss monster, if you can even call it that. The main way you’ll get to it is tomorrow’s card, Golden Allure Queen– let’s just get that out of the way since it’s impossible to discuss this card in good faith without it. Chaos Allure Queen and Allure Palace will also grab it in some combo lines, but in all cases, you’ll want to try to level it up off of Allure Queen LV5 if you can through Allure Palace’s effect. What isn’t debatable, though, are LV7’s stats, clocking in at a horrendous 1500 for both attack and defense despite being level 7. Even Armed Dragon LV7 is better…
LV7 comes with 2 effects, the first a soft once per turn effect to target 1 of your opponent’s monsters then equip it to LV7, though you can only use it if LV7 was summoned by the effect of LV5. Needless to say, with the new support it’s not too difficult (but still a chore) to accomplish this, since Allure Palace will provide a body for Allure Queen LV3 to take and then level up into LV5. On its own, the effect is just okay for boardbreaking since it bypasses destruction protection, though it’s most valuable if you can get Golden Allure Queen live to turn it into a Quick Effect. Unfortunately, as you can only equip 1 monster maximum, you’ll have to find a way to get rid of the equip before you can equip again, but it shouldn’t be a huge issue if you use it as Link fodder. LV7’s other effect is less relevant, letting you save it from being destroyed by battle by destroying the equipped monster instead. In an emergency, this is one way to get rid of the equip so you can do it again, and it’s not that hard to crash considering LV7 has a miserable 1500 attack. For the most part though, this effect will be irrelevant. However, perhaps the best use of LV7 is not its effects at all, as it is conveniently a level 7 DARK Spellcaster so you can use it as a Fusion material for the new Dark Magician Fusion monster, the tentatively-named Dark Magician of Destruction, though we’re still a looong way off before we get to that one. Overall, while the card itself is still quite terrible, it’s at least usable now thanks to the Allure Queen support and it’ll get better once we get Dark Magician of Destruction.
+Decent boardbreaking effect and disruption if you have Golden Allure Queen
+Easy to summon and can be fodder for Dark Magician of Destruction
-Still takes work to set up even with Allure Queen support
-Horribly low stats
Advanced: 2.25/5
Art: 3.5/5 I must say, Allure Queen aged quite well for an old female card (MBT need not comment).
