Hello Pojo Fans,

We’re starting this week off with a new “Rokket”card: Rokket Caliber.

Special Summon ability on a Level 4 monster is nice. You need a DARK Link Monster pointing to that zone, and Rokket players play enough of those to make this an easy requirement, even with Striker Dragon limited to one and Elpy banned. Pop Caliber for a DARK Dragon or Machine from your hand except itself makes it quite the splashable monster for Dragons and Machines. Obviously it works best in its own archetype: Summon any Rokket and make Striker Dragon, Special Summon this to the zone it points to, pop this for another Rokket, and go from there. DARK monsters are the most supported in the game and there are many Link Monsters that can satisfy this requirement. The amount of archetypes this covers is immense as well: it helps non-top tier get a free Special Summon of a bigger monster from their hand. You can also use the Tuner part of it as well to go for a Synchro Summon while using the Link Monster as part of your extended play, though the best part of this card is its 1-for-1 in the hand with a bigger, better DARK Machine or Dragon.

Rokket in name with the Rokket support behind it, but usable in many archetypes. It’s a good extender for a wide range of archetypes. Link climb or Synchro or use it to get another Rokket monster out after having used up your Normal Summon. Good card however you use it.

Now for the full archetype weeks in Burst of Destiny, we have Rokket support and a new Level 4 Tuner for the archetype: Rokket Caliber.

Caliber is a Level 4 DARK Dragon Tuner with 1700 ATK and 100 DEF. A good ATK stat for Level 4, DARK and Dragon are both great as well, and a Level 4 Tuner is always nice. So first off, you can Special Summon this card from your hand to a zone that a DARK Link Monster points to, and you can only do this once a turn. Nothing better than a Level 4 Tuner then a Level 4 Tuner that Special Summons itself, and there’s several good DARK Links like I:P Masquerena and Accesscode Talker. Being a hard once per turn to summon this way is fine as well. You can also tribute this card to summon a DARK Dragon or Machine from your hand, except Rokket Caliber (which seems kinda pointless anyways). It’s fine I guess to get a bigger DARK Dragon or Machine out of your hand but the Deck you’re likely using this in, Dragon Link, won’t need to use an effect like this really. Another hard once per turn as well, but that’s fine. Caliber is a good, free Special Summon in Dragon Link or more pure Rokket Decks, and might fit in other Decks. Good card to start the week.

We shoot off this week by starting with Rokket Caliber.  Dark/Dragon are still excellent together, 1700 attack isn’t bad for Level 4, benefits from being a Tuner…lots to like here initially.  This guy can be Special Summoned to your Zone a Dark Link Monster points to.  Easy enough, Dark being the only real stipulation there, and in this Theme alone, you should always be able to capitalize on that.  Although it can only be Special Summoned once per Turn in that manner.  Also once a Turn, you can Tribute this to Special Summon a Dark type Dragon or Machine Monster from your Hand.  Yeah, that would be any Dragon or Machine that happens to be Dark.  This is a great combo card…can drop fairly easily, can Tribute itself for bigger and better things, and a Tuner to top everything off.  The once per Turn on each Effect keep a powerful card here in check, but it’s definitely a 3 of for Rokket players.  And the name is a fun little pun too.

This week digs deeper into Burst of Destiny with the new Revolver (or Varis, as many know him as) cards, starting with Rokket Caliber, a level 4 DARK dragon tuner monster. There should be no surprises with the type, level, and attribute, since it is a Rokket monster after all, and being a dragon opens up all of the generic dragon goodies that Rokket monsters usually enjoy. The stats aren’t very good, having a middling 1700 attack for a level 4 and a pitiful 100 defense, but they shouldn’t come up often.

Caliber’s first effect allows you to special summon itself to a zone that a DARK link monster points to on a hard once per turn, which is pretty useful; Rokket decks can summon DARK link monsters very easily, so fielding it shouldn’t be an issue. Its second effect, also a hard once per turn, is rather interesting. You can tribute Caliber to special summon a DARK dragon or machine from your hand. While dragon is obvious, machine monsters also being an option opens up potential synergy with the Orcust archetype, which, coincidentally, also uses DARK link monsters. Though Caliber has no bad effects, it doesn’t really offer anything over Rokket Tracer, a much more powerful tuner in both Rokket decks and Dragon Link, and being a tuner prevents it from replacing Rokket Recharger as the resident brick in the Rokket package. Overall a decent extender for Rokkets and it has combo potential in Orcust, so it’s probably nice to keep an eye on just in case.

Art: 3.5/5 Rokket cards are all kinda freaky because of their foreheads, but somehow it works here!
