Hello Pojo Fans,

Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal ends our Xyz archetypes unite week on Pojo CoTD, and is one that this grouping would excel at summoning.

Needing two Xyz Monsters with the same Rank to summon, Utopic Future Zexal is a monster that can be used within any archetype that spams multiple Xyz Monsters in the same turn, with the same Rank. With an ATK/DEF dependent on the combined Ranks of all Xyz Monsters you control and in your opponent’s grave x 500, Utopic Future Zexal is only going to give you 500ATK/DEF as it treats itself as a Rank 1. Because it says “control” it will not count the Xyz Monsters you used to summon it, which is a major bummer. Utopic Future Zexal forces the opponent to attack it and it cannot be targeted by other cards on the field with card effects, giving it a Ring of Magnetism and targeting protection for other cards on the field. With Utopic Future Zexal protecting everything on the field, you want to make sure you get a few Xyz Monsters on the field, even if they are just beatsticks without materials.

If your opponent were to activate any card effect, Utopic Future Zexal can steal any monster on the board and then imbue itself with destruction protection from battle or card effects for the turn. For not negating an effect it makes up for it through protection and taking something from your opponent, and all of that costs you one material. Sure, you are losing likely 2000ATK/DEF by detaching, unless you had a material(s) attached to the Xyz Monsters you used to summon Utopic Future Zexal. Off your opponent playing any card, this monster forces your opponent to attack it and only it, protects everything from targeting cards, and protects itself from destruction of any form. Yes, you can still target this monster and get rid of it that way, but there are ways to increase the protection on this monster to make it even more difficult to deal with.

You want to summon this with monsters attached to your Xyz Monsters so you can keep them detached as long as possible. Great protection for your other cards in terms of attacks and targeting, and that costs you nothing. While it doesn’t negate, it can steal and keep the monster it steals, and, protects itself from destruction for the turn, just in case you have to drop its ATK/DEF to activate that effect. It can be a fantastic card and relatively easy to summon in an Xyz-spam style archetype/deck, but it remains a downer that one Imperm ruins your day.

We end the week off with Utopic Future reaching a new form just like his brother, Utopia, becoming Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal.

Utopic Future Zexal is a Rank 1 (line below summoning conditions, lack of stars is mostly for some nice flare) LIGHT Warrior with 0 ATK and DEF. This has an effect to gain stats at least, and being a LIGHT Warrior is good. Materials are any 2 Xyz Monsters with the same Rank, which unlike the other Utopic Futures can include the other Number monsters, making it marginally easier to summon. It gains 500 ATK and DEF times the Ranks of all Xyz Monsters you control and in the opponent’s graveyard, which can get it to some strong stats when you Rank-Up into Number 99: Utopia Dragonar and summon monsters like Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy and Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord. Your opponent cannot target monsters for attacks, except this one, and your opponent cannot target other cards on the field with card effects. Basically redirecting everything to himself, giving protection to your entire board. Finally, once per turn when the opponent activates a card or effect on the field, you can Quick Effect detach a material from this card to take control of an opponent’s monster and for the rest of this turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Doesn’t stop the effect activating, but making your opponent consider their plays, otherwise you take one of their monsters and Utopic Future Zexal gains some protection on himself to make him harder to out. It’s a pretty good retrain, being able to get some massive stats, protect your board, and steal the opponent’s monsters. A 1-of in the Extra Deck for sure in something like Onomat.

As for Genesys, Utopic Draco Future being 20 points might make this the better card to go to if you don’t want to dedicate points to the Extra Deck too much. Number 99 also has other decent options to use in that format as well like Number 69: Heraldry Crest – Shatter Stream to become Number 69: Heraldry Crest – Dark Matter Demolition, as well as Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon to make use of the Utopiforce you’ll be able to attach from grave to it. All of this while Utopic Future Zexal gives them protection.

Ending the week is yet another Utopia evolution to become a (not “the”, “A”) new boss monster for Onomat and Utopia, Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal, a Rank 0 (Rank 1, for all intents and purposes) LIGHT Warrior Xyz monster. It’ll take any 2 monsters of the same Rank, though in modern Onomat builds, that’ll most likely be 2 Rank 4 monsters. Note that like its other Utopic Future brethren, you’ll lose out on any extra Xyz materials, so keep that in mind if you have spare Xyz materials on Gagagaga Girl or whatever else you’re using. Utopic Future Zexal has 0 attack and defense, so you already know something’s up!

As mentioned, Utopic Future Zexal’s original Rank is always treated as 1 to avoid any potential confusion. It’ll gain 500 attack and defense times the total combined Ranks of Xyz monsters on your field and in your opponent’s Graveyard, reaching some disgusting stats if you’re facing an Xyz deck. For the most part though, you’ll likely be seeing it at a respectable 3000 attack and defense as long as another Rank 4 monster is around like Ryzeal Detonator, but pure builds can easily get extremely high stats with Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray and Number 99: Utopia Dragonar (the latter is 5000 attack alone. Woof!). On top of that, Utopic Future Zexal will force your opponent to only target it for attacks and card effects on the field. That goes for their own cards, too, so it’s a sort of mini-floodgate for decks that need to target their own monsters for combos. Utopic Zexal Future has a single hard once per turn Quick Effect, triggering if your opponent activates a card or effect to let you detach a material, then take control of one of your opponent’s monsters, and as a cherry on top, it’ll make Utopic Future Zexal itself immune to destruction by battle or card effects for the rest of the turn. It’s a non-targeting permanent steal, so it’s way better than it sounds, though unfortunately it is reactive and doesn’t actually negate anything, so it’s not as good against decks like, ironically, Ryzeal. Still, it’s more than serviceable as disruption and it’ll make Utopic Future Zexal incredibly annoying to get rid of, especially if it has gargantuan stats. This guy’s main problems are less about the card itself, and more its competition. Its cousin, Number F0: Utopic Draco Future, takes the same amount of effort to summon, but it has unconditional destruction protection and its monster negate is arguably stronger in many situations. Furthermore, as it is Rank 1 (well, 0), it doesn’t play well with Ryzeal hybrids locking you into Rank 4 monsters. It’s still a great card to run, if only because summoning it going second with Gagagaga Girl and having a few Xyz on the field will basically guarantee an OTK, but it mostly has a home in pure Onomat builds. That said, it is much better in Genesys where Ryzeal hybrids are out of the question and Utopic Draco Future costs 20 points. Go figure!

+Interesting disruption and targeting soft floodgate that can make it very annoying to deal with
+Can quickly reach monstrous stats
-Easy to play around with decks that pack backrow-based removal
-Doesn’t mesh well in Ryzeal hybrids
