The saga creatures are interesting as a class of cards. It sounds like a very exciting concept, which is then tempered a little by the fact that you usually get only one attack out of them (barring shenanigans with haste or Chisei, Heart of Oceans). But then again, the value you accrue from them can be huge – it’s like those old Standard decks where every creature had a comes-into-play ability, but you have three different abilities on one creature, with the added cost of a turn or two. In Titan’s case, I find it interesting that his first two abilities are basically a combo deck in themselves, and if you think of them that way, the fact that he’s a creature adds another dimension to how you can pull off the combo. Think Reanimate or Elvish Piper. And while his third chapter seems to be for a different, more straightforward sort of deck, it wins games just as effectively as any other example of that type of ability.

The avatar of the relatively rare earth element, Titan’s been present in the series since Final Fantasy III introduced summons, though this card calls back to his monumental presence in XV. And he definitely helps you to draw power from the land, setting up land entry, getting a graveyard loaded up, and maybe even enabling a massive swing. While Titan’s not around for long, it is a pretty big hit on that second turn, and being able to set up land-related plays always has room for a lot of intrigue. I feel like Titan’s going to be a decent value-oriented creature: it won’t really break new ground, but it hits hard and delivers a nicely concussive blow in the process.

Constructed: 3.75 (a bit pricey, but everything pays off decently with a bit of planning)
