Firewall Saber Dragon – #ALIN-EN038
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 Cyberse monster in your GY or banishment; add it to your hand. You can target 1 other Cyberse monster you control with a Level; this card’s Level becomes that monster’s. If this card is sent to the GY as Link Material: You can add 1 “A.I.” Spell from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of “Firewall Saber Dragon” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Firewall Saber Dragon is another Cyberse monster that you may see finding its way into Maliss decks.
Generic Synchro needing any combo of monsters to make its Level 7, Firewall Saber Dragon when Synchro Summoned snatches back a Cyberse monster for you from the banished area or your grave. While this may seem counter-productive for Maliss players as you can just bring back your Maliss monsters for a few LP pay, and banishing them from the grave is okay as well, you never quite know if you’ll need a certain one and may not have access to them. Long story short: Summon twice in a turn, banish twice in a turn, and would rather have them for a Normal Summon next turn. Outside Maliss, this card is a big weapon for Cyberse, netting them back a monster they may not have had access too because their archetype is not built like Maliss. Retrieving Backup @Ignister is more than enough reason to play this card in a Cyberse-based deck.
While it won’t do much after that for Maliss, for Cyberse decks in general, its ability to change its Level to that of another Cyberse monster on the field makes it an instant Xyz pair with whatever it chooses, or shrinks it down so it can be used for Synchro Summon potential. Again we find ourselves back at Backup @Ignister, her Special Summon off of having Firewall Saber Dragon on the field makes for a Rank 4 Xyz Summon. With the way Cyberse can Special Summon themselves, Firewall Saber Dragon becomes another material to attach to an Xyz that can have several.
If you do happen to use Firewall Saber Dragon for Link Material, you will get an A.I. Spell search from Deck to hand. While these mostly pertain to the @Ignister archetype, there are a few Spells that can be beneficial without needing the @Ignister Field Spell in conjunction with one of the A.I. Spells, though they usually depend on what Attribute you have on the field. A.I. Connect alongside Maliss would Special Summon one from the hand while searching a non-DARK Cyberse from the Deck and adding to the hand. A.I. Love Fusion is the Cyberse Fusion Spell of choice if you were to run a Fusion Cyberse. Finally, You and A.I. in Maliss would give you an @Ignister token when you Special Summon a Cyberse with 2300ATK because Red Ransom and White Binder are DARK Attribute.
Firewall Saber Dragon is a great weapon for the full-rang of Cyberse strategies. While you aren’t likely seeing this card pop up in Maliss because of the archetypes log-jam when it comes to space for good cards that work with their strategy, it isn’t out of the question if they were to have a Cyberse Tuner to help the process along. Look for this Cyberse in its own archetype and @Ignister especially.

We had a new Tuner, so I guess we have to have a new Synchro, this time following Firewall Dragon into Firewall Saber Dragon.
Firewall Saber Dragon is a Level 7 DARK Cyberse Synchro with 2300 ATK and 2000 DEF. Fine stats, though we give up 200 ATK from Firewall Dragon to keep the 2300 ATK theme for @Ignister Extra Deck bosses, and again we have DARK Cyberse. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), making it generic, but it’ll likely stick to Cyberse Decks only, considering the first effect on Synchro Summon lets you add a Cyberse monster from your grave or banishment to your hand, offering some recovery to start. You can also target another Cyberse monster you control with a Level to have this monster copy the target’s Level, likely to make an Xyz. Finally, if this is sent to the graveyard as Link Material, you can add an A.I. Spell from your Deck to your hand. Ignister A.I.Land has more ways to be searched, but Dark Infant is more than enough for that purpose. Some good targets might be A.I. Connect or A.I. Meet You for extra searching and consistency, or you can search A.I.dle Reborn or FA.I.ghting Spirit to get some recovery to keep Link Summoning. A.I. Contact is an honorable mention to put an extra copy of A.I.Land back to draw 3. HOPT on each effect as we can expect. It’s always funny to see a Level 7+ Synchro designed more to extend plays than it is to be a boss to sit on the field, but that’s what we got here. It gets back your Cyberse monsters to make up for the materials you used to Synchro Summon it, it can copy Levels if you want to go into Xyz Monsters (likely to get the requirements for Firewall Dragon Darkfluid’s counters or Firewall Dragon Singularity’s bouncing faster), and it searches for A.I. Spells to help your plays. @Ignister and Cyberse piles are likely to appreciate this more than anything considering they’ll likely use Backup @Ignister, so throwing this in the Extra Deck works considering you want to end on monsters like Darkfluid or Singularity, meaning this in the grave makes them better.

Art: 2.5/5 The Firewall monsters aren’t too visually impressive, and this is a weaker entry to the group in my opinion.

Not even Firewall Dragon is safe from an @Ignister makeover as we get Firewall Saber Dragon, a level 7 DARK Cyberse Synchro monster that sort of parallels Cyberse Quantum Dragon. It’ll take any Tuner and non-Tuners to Synchro Summon it, but as usual, it’s best made in a Cyberse deck to take full advantage of its effects. Fittingly, it’s the perfect level to make with Backup @Ignister and Wizard @Ignister (you’d do that instead of Linking them off for a Maliss Link, right?). Unlike Quantum, Saber takes a slight hit in its attack points for a total of 2300 while keeping the 2000 defense, which puts it perfectly in line with the @Ignister support wanting monsters with 2300 attack.
Saber comes with 3 hard once per turn effects, the first triggering if it’s Synchro Summoned to recycle a Cyberse monster from your Graveyard or banishment back to your hand. This is a convenient way to retrieve Backup and use its Special Summon effect if you decided to Normal Summon it instead, though it’s also nice to recycle Wizard so you can have nasty follow-up for the next turn. Saber’s second effect will let you target another Cyberse monster you control with a level, changing its own level to that monster’s level. This is obviously meant to enable Xyz plays so that you can fuel Firewall Dragon Singularity, though I think you’re better off using the Link materials for the new @Ignister and Code Talker boss monster we’ll get to at the end of the week. Finally, if Saber is sent to the Graveyard as Link material, you’ll be able to search any A.I. Spell from your deck. There’s no shortage of useful A.I. Spells; A.I.dle Reborn is a simple revival while A.I. Meet You can search most @Ignister monsters as long as you have the right Extra Deck. Speaking of which, it is very weird that it’s not an @Ignister monster by name– there’s probably a lore reason for it, but it’d certainly help its combo potential if it actually played nice with @Ignister cards. Tomorrow’s card (spoilers) A.I. Connect is also an option if you have a good hand for it. Though it’s pretty useless in Maliss hybrids, it’s a decent extender for Code Talker, Firewall, and @Ignister-focused decks; if you can access Backup, you’ll almost definitely be able to make it. Not being able to search A.I. Traps is a little weird, but it’s not a problem because most of them are pretty bad anyway. Overall, you’ll want to play this in @Ignister proper, but outside of it you’re probably better off just using Backup and Wizard as Link fodder.
+Versatile combo piece for Cyberse decks that recycles monsters and grabs A.I. Spells
+Helps enable Xyz plays for Firewall Dragon Singularity
-Requires playing more @Ignister cards for its full potential
-Missed combo opportunities even in @Ignister due to lacking the @Ignister names
