NFG's Duel Masters Deck Garage

Origins - Duel Masters Invitational Tournament

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO! If you don't watch Seinfeld (you should, really), then you won't get what that means. Anyways, for those of you who don't pay attention to anything, Origins, or the greatest gaming convention ever, is gonna be going on pretty soon. This is where they hold the JSS Magic Tournament, and the Yu Gi Oh National Championship (aka, who can bribe their opponent first tournament). Oh yeah, they're having a little thing called the Duel Masters Invitational Tournament, TWICE!!!!


Philip Street: Oh but NFG! I wished I were as good as you! I should really play in the 15+ bracket so I can get taken to Sunday School! Whats the big deal about the Invitational, isn't it just like the other ones!!??!111

NFG: No Philip, its not. This invitational is open. Which means there are no age brackets for little farts to sneak in through and steal paid trips from the deserving unemployed!

Philip Street: Oh. *starts crying*


The point of this article is to inform everyone about Origins and study the current meta. (to the best of our ability)


So, whats up with Origins? I'm gonna be there for the entire thing. So come find me, I'll be everwhere. And of course, I'll be at least one of the DM tournaments (depending on dates). You already know what I look like, but in case you forget (??) then I will be wearing something like this:


1. Black "dress" shirt. Black "dress" pants. (You gotta look like a pro for DM)
2. A shirt that says Monte Eads , Pojo.com on the front, and MONTE EADS NFG on the back. Black pants.
3. Random shirt, black pants.


Come find me, I wanna get some signed cards from all my Pojo friends!


Now on to the constructive means of this article.


Whats won the invitationals? I'm not even to talk about decks. I'll just talk about the ridiculous card that is Pyrofighter Magus. WHY WIZARDS, WHY!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO US!!! In fact, you put it IN A STARTER DECK!! AND ITS A COMMON!! LITTLE KIDS SHOULD NOT HAVE GOOD CARDS! This card is breaking the game. I'm gonna this card Corile Jr. Everyone is abusing this cards. Even controls decks. When Control Decks start using a SPEED ATTACKER that isn't Bazagazeal Dragon, there is a problem. Of course, there are a few things to stop this. Blockers, Ghost Touch, and of course, LOST SOUL!!! Not necessarily every deck will run these, but they will be mainstreamed. Holy Awe is getting increasingly popular in all decks, but I do not feel they will be mainstreamed.

From what I see, B/U/X, or Black/Blue/Anything, will be winning many games and taking invites at the Duel Masters Invitationals. There's not a set way to beat this. Depending on the game, its pretty much Rock, Paper, Scissors. If there was anything I knew to beat it, I would say it. Of course, you can beat the core cards. Draw stops discard, Blockers stop Rush, and Cheap Kill stops Mana Accel. I would go into this, but time is ticking and Guild Wars won't play itself. So until next time, KEEP YOUR PANTS ON!
