Subject: The Dead Sea- by Christian- Comic Chest, VA

Hello, fellow pojo readers! My name is Christian and this is my second DM tourney report. The first one was in May, where I landed a first place finish. Since then, I have changed my deck a lot, despite how they look compared on paper. I must've changed it a million times and came back to this because I once won with it.
So, anyway, I woke up at about 9 on July 23, it was time to prepare for the tourney. I woke up, took a shower, and finally, I was ready. My mom and I hopped into the car to drive to our favorite store to play, Comic Chest. We had some time before it began to talk about next week, when we become DCI sanctioned. I CAN'T WAIT! So, here is the deck I was about to use.

THE DEAD SEA
BY CHRISTIAN VAN HOOSE
Card Count:44

2 Crystal Lancer
2 Crystal Paladin
4 Corile
4 Emeral
4 Aqua Hulcus
4 Aqua Guard

4 Spiral Gate

4 Horrid Worm
4 Bloody Squito

4 Terror Pit
4 Death Smoke
2 Proclamation of Death
2 Lost Soul

Today was Swiss style, and there were 11 participants. Now, for the first round!

Round 1- D.S. VS. Wes- Red/Black
Game 1- Okay, to kick things off, we both got quick starts and started playing creatures. I set some shield triggers with Emeral and started unleashing incredible removal on him. He couldn't come back after that, and I won very handily. WIN
Game 2- I got a lot of creatures out early on him this time, too. Later, I played Crystal Paladin and began attacking shields. I was about to win, so he started to try and hold back my assault with blockers, but I pushed through anyway for the win. WIN

Stats after Round 1: 1-0

Round 2- D.S. VS. Carl- Yellow
Game 1- At first, I was really worried about this match, as I cosider Carl the best player here. Then he told me he wasn't playing his regular red speed deck, but some new yellow contraption. Still, I was a little scared. The first game started out well enough, with me decimating his hand with a Horrid Worm. Then, he destroyed it, and things only got worse, with him bringing out these HUGE blockers like Gran Gure. I played Paladin and then Lancer, but he kept tapping my creatures to destroy them, and eventually, I lost. LOSE
Game 2- I can't believe what happened here. It semmed as though I just kept unleashing wave after wave of torture on him. First, there were the two Horrid Worms. Pretty self-explanatory there. Then, just when it seemed as though he was about to make a comeback with his blockers, I played Paladin, which I later evolved into Lancer, then back to Paladin! Woo, that was fun. WIN
Game 3- I can sum this up in one word: removal. There was nothing he could do to stop me. Yes! Sweet revenge on the one that always beats me! Sweet, sweet revenge! Carl, you just got SERVED! WIN

Stats after Round 2: 2-0

Round 3- D.S. VS. Sandra a.k.a. Mom- Red
Game 1- At this point, we were both undefeated, and even though she's my mom, I wasn't about to go easy on her! Things went good in the beginning of the game, with me playing some early blockers and an Emeral. However, later in the game, it looked like she would win when she had two Pyrofighters, but I destroyed one and on my turn, I played Lost Soul to get rid of the other one. At 0 to 0 shields, I attacked for the win. WIN
Game 2- This was also an incredibly close game. In fact, it looked like she would win for a while until I came back with shield triggers and a lot of blockers. WIN

Stats after Round 3: 3-0

Okay, at this point in the tournament, there was only one other undefeated player besides me, and his name is Eric. Incidentally, he is also a fan of pojo.com. Hope you're reading this, Eric! Anyway, back to the tournament...

Finals- D.S. VS. Eric- Black
Game 1- Okay, he's undefeated, he has to be pretty good, I thought. I admit it, I was worried. Well, I didn't take extremely good notes this round as I was absorbed in the game. I can remember him getting some blockers out but I got Paladin out to save me. WIN
Game 2- Again, a very good game. I can remember him playing more blockers again this game, but once more, Paladin came out for the win. WIN

Yeah! I won the tournament! For first place, I got an awesome new deck box, and for second place, Eric got two Thundercharge boosters, one containing a Glory Elemental. Carl got third. Now for props and slops!

PROPS
Winning
Mom doing good and landing 4th place
Cool new deck box
My awesome deck
I'm going to the Invitationals on Aug.6, and am turning 12 on the same date
SLOPS

Judging system going awry- by the looks of it, Jacob probably won't judge next week's sanctioned tournament, and Carl might
Well, all in all, it was a super day. Hopefully, I'll be able to write another report next week. Please feel free to contact me, I'm Christian Van Hoose and my e-mail is christiansenclair@cox.net
