Subject: Shield Trigger Crazy- by Daniel Seghers-Rising Phoenix, Gretna, LA

Daniel Seghers

Rising Phoenix

Gretna, Louisiana

4/2/05

Hi. My name Daniel and this is my first tournament report.  I play in Gretna, Louisiana and go to Rising Phoenix.  This is probably the fifth or sixth time that I have gone there for Duel Masters

Anyways, here's my deck.

Shield Trigger Crazy:40

Blue Creatures:15

2 x Crystal Lancer

2 x Aqua Guard

1 x Crystal Paladin

4 x Corile

2 x Aqua Jolter

4 x Aqua Hulcus

Green Creatures:10

1 x Fighter Dual Fang

1 x Barkwhip, the Smasher

3 x Torcon

4 x Bronze-Arm Tribe

Green Spells:8

4 x Natural Snare

4 x Mana Nexus

Yellow/White Spells:4

4 x Holy Awe

Black Spells:4

4 x Terror Pits

I got there around 1. The tournament starts at one but the store had not opened up yet.  So I went to Bud's Broiler and got some fries to hold me over.  Finally they opened up but decided to wait an hour since they were late.  After we started about 6 people had signed up.   Let's begin.

Round 1: Stephanie Mono-Water

She is between novice and intermediate.  She is a good player but makes mistakes often.

Duel 1:  She got Aqua Vehicle out early but I stopped it with Aqua Guard.  I Corile'd her Angler Clusters a few times.  I finished her off with Crystal Paladin.

1-0

Duel 2:  Almost an exact repeat of duel 1, card by card.  The only difference is that I beat her with Crystal Lancer.

2-0

That was a good warm up.  Now to Round 2 !!

Round 2: Norman Black-Green

Norman is ranked 1st in Louisiana but today he was trying out his practice deck.  He usually runs Blue-Black Control.

Duel 1:  He gets out Crow Winger early and wipes out two shields.  After I dominated with Terror Pits, Snares and Lancers.  He tries to fight back but he hits Holy Awe.

3-0

Duel 2:  Once again he gets and early Crow Winger and Torcon.  I have luck on my side, however, because he hits Natural Snare and Terror Pit!  From then on I summoned Aqua Hulcus, Corile, Aqua Jolter, and Bronze-Arm Tribe.  Since its his secondary deck he forgot to put in vital shield triggers.  Because of this I am able to wipe him out and move on into the finals.

4-0

Round 3: Joseph( I think ) Black-Green

Joseph plays nearly every style of games at Rising Phoenix.  He is also a good Duel Masters player.

Duel 1:  He puts up a lot more of a fight than Norman did.  However, I am able to Mana Nexus a Holy Awe and his rushing attempts fail.

5-0

Duel 2: Now since I am used to playing against these types of deck I know what to do.  I did everything that I did against Norman in the 2nd duel.

6-0

Yay!! I finally win a tournament.  Though, I can't blabber off to anyone about beating Norman since he ran a different deck.

Props:

For winning

getting a holo out of my prize yugioh pack

getting a promo Corile for winning

beating Norman

Slops:

For Norman not running Blue/Black

Any questions
