Deck today I was going to run my most current deck, Manna Complex, this deck is engineered on destroying manna and accumulating it quickly! I summon out my lil guys for great effects to twiddle down my opponent and to strengthen my manna zone. Then immediately when I have reached the manna of 8 I summon silphy as fast as I can so I can put an end to my opponents rush. I must depend on the shields of have laid down for me to use. As well since 35ish cards are shield triggers I am usually quiet proud of my shields.

precap today was the tournament of the five civs. My and my brother Patrick had arrived about thirty minutes early and I had decided to enter the upper division. Every one from galactic quest was upset that I was entering there upper division and wanted me to enter the younger division. This was because they were all scared of me and what my deck could do. The only thing I was fearful of was speed attackers. GOD WHY HAVE YOU SENT SPEED ATTACKERS UNTO THE EARTH!? But any ways I decided I was going to beef my deck up right before the tournament started and I might have just messed it up there. I had added about an extra ten cards because my deck always decked out and that was the only downfall that is suffered. But I had changed it and now the only downfall that it will have is speed attackers.

The tournament itself Today there were to be two divisions, the upper and the lower. The upper division was for 15+ and he lower was 14-. The rounds for the upper were four rounds Swiss, and the top four players squared off for a top four match single eliminations then onto a finals.

Entry fee - $10

Round 1 Tyler vs. Austin Ladshawl (2-1)

Deck (blue/red (splash of terror pits)) human evo and draw power.

Round 1- This round I has started off with not so good of a hand. Austin was running his infernal human evo deck. This meant that there was going to be plenty of rush and if I can t pull that silphy quick enough then I am done for. He was able to rush my shields and I did not pull a silphy off with in this round. The humor was after he beet me, it was my next card. But that was just round one, and I had given a rush deck the honor of going first, I would not let it go that way again.

Round 2 this time I had decided to go first and I was able to pull off this game. I had gone first and had enough manna generation in my hand to last a while. I was able to buff my manna pool up pretty quickly and hold off his rush with bronze suicide. Then I had the manna to pull off the silphy pretty early on and kill his rush and he was top decking. Then I controlled his manna and he was forced to concede the match.

Round 3 in this round he got to go first and it was looking pretty grim form there on his part for I had pulled a decent had for combating rush. I pulled the silphy off and controlled his manna again with my fortress shell. Both duels I was able to lock him with the sniper/fortress shell move (yes that s where you have 17 manna and you snipe the fortress and play him again). Again he was forced to concede this round.

Notes I was glad to have gotten to play Austin, he is a quiet talented duelist. He has been in somewhat of a slump though and his dark incinerator has lost its touch over the past month or so. I felt bad about having to duel him first, but he is my rival and I had to play him with every thing I had. For me though we are some of the only three people who try to be original and not run your black /blue control. He had also won the first five civs and was 1st in state for a while. But that s just how it goes.

Round 2 Tyler vs. Stephen Slack (2-0)

Deck today Stephen was running his deep blue/black control. Luckily he was not running his merfolk, I was quiet pleased, so I was looking forward to a good duel.

Round 1&2 I was able to beat him with controlling his manna zone and his field with silphy and fortress (manna crisis), then a little down the round I started sniper/fortress combo. He conceded as well.

Notes I was glad to see that Stephen was not using merfolk. There was rumor that he was.

Round 3 Tyler vs. Justin Couch (0-2)

Deck red/blue/black it was another form of a lil shock hurricane, and tri control. He was abusing cards like meteasoar, and mainly over using the 4&5 costs.

Round 1 Justin was able to deck me out this round. WTF! I could have won this round too, and that could have meant a lot in the long run! I had searched for my silphy I do believe with a memory and that put me down lone card from Justin s deck count. I decked out first!

Round x this is an even that must be said, it took place between round 1&2. When I lost to Justin I stood up and shouted GOD DAMNIT! really fucking loud and like the bomb squad rushing in the store owner was right next to me and he was warning us. God, those are some good times.

Round 2- In this round I did not have be decked out, we were going and he was whacking my shields, only with the damned pyro fighter (one of the broken cards in this game) This car saved his but when he top decked it, and all the others I had found some = magic way of destroying it form his hand. He got me, darn top deck.

Round 4 Tyler vs. Travis (1-2)

Deck today he was using his red/black deck/control. I had never played him before, and I heard he had beat Stephen, so I was expecting a good game.

Round 1 This game I played horrible, I forgot the type of deck he was pimping around with. He was able to deck me out, for I had drawn and manna generated way to much.

Round 2 I kept annoying him with asking how many cards in deck? Over and over again, it really prolonged his defeat. I kept good count and really did not generate manna. Then I was able to get to 17 manna by controlling his hand and only keeping blockers on his field. He was defeated 1-1

Round 3 this round he figured out that I knew how to beat the previous strategy. So he used attackers instead and tried rushing my shields. It was then down to the neck. Travis only had about five cards in his deck and I am open for attack and then out of no where he topped decked his mighty speed attacker. It was so nerve wrecking, every one was standing around me and him. He was given a boat load of glory. I had lost 1-2.

Notes this man was a serious gamer, he had driven all the way down to Atlanta GA to play in a tournament all the way form his state of south Carolina. I was quiet impressed. Well GG Travis, using a mock up of Austin s Dark Incinerator (although he had never met Austin in his life)

After math

Pros -

- my deck was finally defeated

- I got two packs!

- I got to play a lot of good duelist

- I got a promo

- I got a dollar from the packs!

Cons

- My deck was defeated

- I got two packs of shadow clash

- I got a gay promo

- JUSTIN BEAT ME

- I almost got kicked out of the store! <we heeeee>

Austin also did not wind up doing bad at all he placed fifth, also if I had beaten the Travis; it would have been me and Austin in the finals instead of Travis and Lee.

As well I was pissed that Justin beat me, and decided I should not have changed my deck right before the tournament.
