5 Dollar Entry Fee

8 Players

Welcome to my second Duel Masters Tourney Report. I was nervous that morning because I was using a deck that I had just built the night before, and I didn't get any advice since my computer was broken. I played a few fun games and traded for a lot of promos. I paid my 5 dollars at 1:00 PM and waited for the tournament to start.

42 Cards

14 Nature Cards

3x Faerie Life
4x Bronze-Arm Tribe
4x Natural Snare
3x Nocturnal Giant

13 Fire Cards

4x Deadly Fighter Braid Claw
3x Pyrofighter Magnus

3x Searing Wave
3x Apocalypse Vise

15 Light Cards

4x La Ura Giga, Sky Guardian

4x Larba Geer, the Immaculate
4x Mist Rias, Sonic Guardian
3x Dia Nork, Moonlight Guardian

1st Round, Me Vs Dave (aka Pojo's Drizer) (4CC)

I was a bit nervous since Dave usually beats me in our tournament matches.

Match 1
I didn't take any notes of this game since I thought I would lose, but I beat him.

Match 2
I has a great start while Dave had a slow one. I eventually got him down to 1 shield while I still had 4 left. He kept stalling but it didn't work. His last shield was a Mana Nexus so he took another Mana Nexus out of his mana and into his shields. I attacked that his shield again, he had no more Mana Nexus's in his mana so he put his Locomotiver into his shields. I ended up winning this game too.

Record: 1-0

2nd Round, Me Vs Gino (Mono Black)

Match 1
I started off with a very good hand. He went first and played a Marrow Ooze and I played a Deadly Fighter on my turn. I attacked and he both died. I got some early mana by playing Faerie Life on my 2nd turn and a Bronze-Arm Tribe on my 3rd. I thought I had a good set up so far, but I could not attack his shields since he kept destroying all of my creatures. He eventually killed my last shield with a Locomotiver, but I was able to put some blockers out and it was back and forth stall. I was able to get him down to 1 shield but then he summoned 3 Bloody Squitos. I only had one creature on the field, but on the next turn I was able to summon a La Ura Giga and evo it to a Larba Geer. I attacked his shield, not a shield trigger and I finished him off.

Match 2
This game was very, very slow. He ended up destroying all of my early creatures once again. I was able to get him down to 2 shields though, and I had 5 left. He wasn't able to block my attacks, so I kept attacking with my Bronze-Arm Tribe to knock out his last 2 shields, and he still couldn't block so I once again won!

Record: 2-0

Round 3, Me Vs Josh (Mono Blue)

This was the first time I faced Josh in weeks since he hasn't come to the store in a while. I wasn't ready because I didn't duel him earlier and didn't know what deck he would run. Anyways, we we're the only ones left with a perfect record, so I offered to draw the game. I knew he wouldn't agree since he's way better than I am, and I was right.

Match 1
We both were building up our field with creatures. I tried to attack, but he blocked. He soon got a Crystal Lancer out on the field, attacked 2 shields, no shield triggers. The next turn I used an Apocalypse Vise to destroy his lancer. Several turns later, I cast Searing Wave, and it wiped out his whole field except for his Angler Cluster. He soon regained his creatures, used a Crystal Paladin to get rid of my blockers, and attacked for the win.

Match 2
This looked like another bad game for me. I had a bad hand and I would hope we would too. I didn't bother to take much notes this game but I remember it was a very good game. He got rid of all my shields with a Crystal Lancer and I was able to destroy it. He had no shields, but a lot of blockers. I was able to summon a Larba Geer and win this very close game.

Match 3
It was a very slow start for both of us. He was able to kill 2 of my shields early in the game with his Emeral until it was destroyed. I summoned my Nocturnal Giant and I attacked 3 of his shields the next turn. I had 2 shields left and 2 blockers on the field when he summoned a Crystal Paladin. He attacked with it, a Aqua Jolter, and a Corile to win the game.

Record: 2-1

Top Four

Me Vs David Pendergrass
Mike Sullivan Vs Joshua Richards

When I saw the Top Four listings, I was hoping for two things. I was hoping that the first round with Dave wasn't just a fluke, and I was also hoping that Mike would take out Josh.
Dave's hoping that he could beat me, since he was mad that he lost tons of DCI points from an old tournament, and he probably lost a lot for losing to me.

Round 4, Me Vs David (4CC)

Match 1
It was a slow game for me. He was building up his field, but I destroyed them all with a Searing Wave. Later on the game, it was still slow; he has 3 shields and I had 1. I summoned a Nocturnal Giant a wiped out his last 3 shields. He made a mistake and could've won, but I won and his was mad.

Match 2
I was building up my field until I could kill almost all his shields in one turn. I killed 3 shields with Nocturnal Giant and 1 with Larba Geer in one turn. He made a minor comeback, but I won again.

Record: 3-1

Final Round, Me Vs Josh (Mono Blue)

Match 1
Like before, it was a slow game for me. I didn't take much notes, but he used a Paladin and a Lancer for the win.

Match 2
I didn't bother taking notes since I was concentrating on the game. He had field control, and ended up winning by swarming me with liquid people.

This tournament was very good and very fun for me. I ended up winning a lot of DCI points and getting ton of promos from Josh.

PROPS AND SLOPS TIME!

Props:
Me getting second place!
Nintendo revealing their controller for the Revolution (I'm a Nintendo fanboy with a mix of Microsoft)
Getting around 80 promos from Josh.

Slops:

Having my computer broken for about 2 weeks
The Nintendo Revolution controller looks like a DVD Player remote :(

Till next time I send a report!
