04-19-05 - What To Expect At Invitationals : Current Decks

Hello all. Nifffffig here. Gather 'round and enjoy another one of the most friggin' a' articles written. Well, unless you're an idiot, then by reading the title of this article, you see this is about Invitationals. "Duhh, you mean Yu Gi Oh invitationals, NFG?" No, smacktard, its DUEL MASTERS INVITATIONALS. Thats right, you guys all have an opportunity to come to a certain tournament, and get totally. Pwnt. By. Me. Lol. Just kidding..

Anyways, this article will have different parts to it, but generally it will be about what you should expect to play at Invitationals. From my experience in Yu Gi Oh Regionals, and other games..it will consist of the people running the Cookie Cutter Popular Metagame decks, and the nerds trying to counter it. This IS NOT Magic, run cookie-cutter or get owned. Well, in a way. Whats the most popular deck right now? Blue/Black is really popular, so I'm gonna go with that. It generally consists of the Aqua Hulcus, Corile, Merfolk, Ghost Touch, Loco, and some random Red cards. The Red cards are more of a personal opinion. As for my Blue/Black, I run 4 Pyrofighters, 2 Searing Wave, and 1 Crimson Hammer. (Heres our new character)

Little Jimmy Sacocrapski (hes jewish):

Ah, but NFG, Pyrofighters are for Rush Decks!

NFG : You stupid children must stop following me. Well, oh ignorant one, Pyrofighter is really good at controlling your opponent. Let me explain:

Control decks have a very hard time keeping a monster advantage over their opponent before turn five or six, and if they don't grab the advantage by that turn, it will be VERY difficult to attain it later. Pyrofighters help the deck's pilot to peck off shields, then return Pyrofighter to the pilots hand for safety. Giving them a slight lead in shields, and keeping a monster and hand.

Well, that was a little off topic, I need to focus more on the decks at Invitationals.

Black/Red (me, no one else)

Well, I'm all articled out, but I will be back next week, or maybe a week after that, with another article that will elaborate on those deck types. Later, homies.
