  Petrova, Channeler of Suns
Fatal Brood of Infinite Ruin

Card # DMS1

Date Reviewed: 01.20.06

Constructed Average Rating: 4.6
Limited Average Rating: 4.16

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating.

Prince
Yaken
Petrova, Channeler of Suns
Cost: 5
Race: Mecha Del Sol
Civilization: Light
Power: 3500
~When you put this creature into the battle zone, choose a race other than Mecha Del Sol. Each creature of that race gets +4000 power. Whenever your opponent would choose a creature in the battle zone, he can't choose this one. (It can still be attacked and blocked.)

Civilization:

Cost/Power: 5 mana for 3500 power would normally be something you would only see in either survivor decks or old school decks that at the time boasted creatures with 5+ mana cost for 3000- power. However, Petrova, Channeler of Suns really knows how to focus where he shines (no pun intended). Regardless of his effects, His 3500 power keeps him out of the way of almost every fire destruction spell namely the ever popular Searing Wave.

Abilities: First of all his effects target both sides of the field so remember that before you get too excited and call Cyber Lord, Human, or Ghost depending on what your opponent plays. While on the field whatever type that you called when Petrova was first summoned automatically gets a whopping 4000 boost making them nearly untouchable in terms of battle standards. Also with the exception of attacking or blocking your opponent cannot even think about playing anything on Petrova since his second effect makes him immune to cards that would target him. Cards like Blizzard of Spears will still get their chance to take him down but other than that Petrova will be a force to reckon with.

Card Efficiency: The ability to make a selected race stand above most blockers and kill spells gives him enough brownie points to label him as near broken.

Constructed: Petrova, Channeler of Suns may find its way into a few aggro decks and even Light/Fire rush decks but his true potential is yet unknown.
4/5

Limited: A mid game Petrova, Channeler of Suns will almost guarentee a sweep of the field as long as your opponent isn't hiding a few of whatever race you just called in their hand. 4.5/5

Ferret Mage Petrova, Channeler of Suns
Cost: 5
Race: Mecha Del Sol
Effect:
-When you put this creature in the battle zone, choose a race other than Mecha Del Sol. Each creature of that race gets +4000 power.
-Whenever your opponent would choose a creature in the battle zone, he can't choose this one. (It can still be attacked and blocked.)
Flavor: Something about a sun and overhead and hot dogs maybe....

Race: Mecha Del Sols are Light's new race on the block and Fatal Brood has given us not only one more of them, but it has given us what some argue to be the best card of the set. Mecha Del Sol's don't have any evolutions but with the cur rent's set race support you could manage to find some use of them.

Cost: 5 mana is a very decent cost for what this card can provide you, it's one of the cheapest Mecha Del Sols, it's got a killer effect, and it's power is enough to get it past a Searing Wave (More on that later.)

Effect: This first thing you notice is that it gives a rather hefty boost to any creature of one race as soon as it hut's the battle zone, as you can probably tell, this effect totally roxors your boxors. With an extra +4000 power you can effectual wipe out half of Fire's kill spells, Apocalypse Vice, Searing Wave, everything would just be wiped out. The second thing you notice is that this card is literally invincible to almost ALL KILL SPELLS AND EFFECTS.. So long as your opponent has to choose this card as target, it cannot be killed. (It's important to note that this count towards Apocalypse Vice because you have to choose which creatures add to 8000.) The only way this card could be destroyed is if an effect like Death Cruzer's were to happen, an effect that kills all creatures.

So long as this card is untapped it is also invariable to attack save for creatures that can attack untapped creatures and when it GTE's tapped by a spell or effect.

So what we have here is a creature that boosts the power of an entire race by 4000, and is invariable to almost all kill spells and effects?? Wow...just...wow...

Power: If this card were to have just 500 less power than it would easily be destroyed by Searing Wave. But did WOTC do this? I don't think so!!! So right now the only power based kill spell is Blizzard of Spears, in fact....I think that's the only spell that can kill it....not sure...

Construed: 5/5 No reason NOT to run it!
Limited: 4/5 Make sure you have a lot of creatures who are of the same race!
Art: 3/5 Beware the hot dog...

When Epic came out and released the Mecha Del Sol, I laughed, and then cooked Sasha, Misha, and Nastasha in my Microwave Oven.(Waste of
electricity.) Those three dishonoured the Mecha Del Sol and I was laughing.
Those cards were really useless. Now, I take it all back. Except microwaving

the cards, since I'm no Miracle Worker. Petrova is the Ultimate Power Up Card for ANY Civilisation!

It's given the Mecha Del Sol a good name, and it has made me respect it so much to the point where I collect Four of them in my deck. I hug it tightly,

never letting go, making sure they're all checked. This card is strong enough to give any Race immunity from Power Count Destruction, save for Apocalypse Vise. But besides that, it's excellent.

It has 3500 power, meaning it can't be Searing Waved, or Apocalypse Vice'd!
Because Whenever your opponent would choose a creature on the field he can't

choose this one! WHOO! No Terror Pits, nope! Natural Snare? Bwahahaha!
Tornado Flame? Sorry, try again. This is an Excellent Card! It can give any race you call when you summon this creature onto the field, +4000 power.
THINK! OF! The! POSSIBILITIES!

You can't power the card itself normally, but then again, Life isn't normal.

But you can boost any other races you call when you summon this card. ANY RACE. It can't be selected. It can't be targetted. Oh, sure it can still be attacked and blocked, but who cares? This is an excellent card, and I will rate it more than usual.

I love this baby. I've got four of 'em. (^_^)

Final Ratings?

Constructed: 5/5 (This can go in any deck. Excellent.)
Limited: 4/5 (No difference to playing with several decks.)
Rarity: 5/5 (This card deserve's every single bit of Rarity it's got.
Whatever you do, DON'T TRADE IT. It's high enough to create infinite Ruin!
Don't ever trade it, sell it!)
Base Price for it: $20 - $35. (It's worth that frigging much. Don't ever sell it. If possible, keep it.)

... 14/15. HIGHEST RATING EVER! I love this card.

I'll be honest, this is my favorite card from the set.

Civilization: Light just got a new tool and a new weapon.

Effect: OMG this thing is unbelievable. Not only does it help out other races by granting then an extra 4000 points to use any way they want, but you opponent will also have a hard time getting him to leave the field due to his second effect. Untargetable by your opponent. This means that he can't be coriled, terror pitted, natural snared, tornado flamed, sprial gated, death smoked. I'm not sure but Aplocypse vise, but I'm willing to say he can't since you opponent does target the creatures he wants to kill. Yes the set did come out with a counter to him, and he can't be attacked, but I don't want him to attack, but to support.

Cost: If anything I feel this thing is under costed. 3.5 of his cost goes to his power leaving his 2 effects for the rest of the 1.5 of his cost. If you can't see why I believe this guy to be under costed then stop reading now. No don't stop reading. to even pay 2 mana for these effects is reasonable. I for one would expect the untargetable to cost a lot of mana along with the power booster effect, but their cheap.

Combos: In a tribe deck it gives cheap lower powers creatures a power to deal with, comboed with mist rais and you've got a force to be reconed with and a draw engine. Just in a splash, power up your game ender, 7000 power pyro fighters are not to be laughed at. Heavy blockers, with more power what can't they stop.

Constructed: Splash 4.5/5 It's can be hard to splash light cards into a crammed deck but he's worth it.

a deck all ready running light 5/5

Tribe deck 5/5 (a deck that focuses on one race [coughsurvivorcough])

Limited: 4/5 If you pull this some one likes you. It only lost points because of it's mid/high cost.

(chances are I'm hyping this card to more than it is, but I really like this card)
