Angry Maple

I am back from vacation and have time to write a real review! Unfortunately, there is not much to say about angry maple. It has a 3:3000 power to cost ratio and no abilities or support. There is no reason to play angry maple. It is a tree folk and they have absolutely no support in the current game. It is really not a bad card, there are just other 3 drops for nature that are better(BAT). This card is nothing special. If you use nature and want a 3 drop, stick with BAT.

constructed: 2.9/5 It is almost average :)

Angry Maple

Type: Creature

Civilization: Nature

Race: Treefolk

Mana Cost: Three (3)

Rules Text:

Power attacker +4000 (While attacking, this creature gets +4000 power.)

Flavor Text:

“I always want to look my best for a big battle. I trim my branches. I comb my leaves. I’m looking sharp—and then wham! Birds nest. Every time.”

Power: 1000+

Set: McDonalds Promo

Power/Cost: Three mana is reasonable. Not too expensive, but not ridiculously cheap either. So what do we get in return? A five thousand power beatstick! What a bargain! Then you read the part where Angry Maple gets the power boost only while attacking, so you put it off to the side and pretend you never got excited in the first place.

Civilization/Race: The Nature Civilization already has tons of competition at the three mana spot, which does not bode well for Angry Maple. Bronze-Arm Tribe, Mighty Bandit, and even Sword Butterfly are more efficient candidates.

There are nine other Treefolk creatures in the game. They do not have any support at the moment, but there is a decent evolution coming up in Thundercharge (the next expansion set). Look for the Treefolk to become a little more important with time.

Effects: Power attacker is not an effect that I like. It only matters when you are blasting creatures, but not shields. So you will most likely get one attack off, maybe to suicide against an opposing threat. If not, then Angry Maple will almost certainly be attacked and die on your opponents turn. Not good at all.

Rating: 2/5

There are much better options for your deck. Find something better, then trade Angry Maple away to a collector who’s crazy about promos and needs to have 20 of everything. You will not be sorry.

Hey guys, not much to say today ^^, let?s review

Good Points of the Card

-3 drop
-+4k when attacking

Constructed Side

This card isn?t too horrible. Even though he will only last one turn, as he can die to anything. But he is also a good way to take care of those early 5000 power evos that are so annoying. I think this card has amazing potential in a blocker deck.

Limited Side

I?ll quit dm if you pull this card out in limited.

Bad Points of the card

-1k power
-no support

Overall Standings:

Again, he?s got potential

Limited: 0
Art: 2/5

Till next time,

Name: Angry Maple
Type: Creature
Race: Tree Folk
Civilization: Nature
Cost: 3
Value: 1
Effect: Power attacker +4000

Since I like to be optimistic when it comes to nature cards, lets go over the benefits of this unusual Tree Folk. First of all Angry Maple has by far the biggest Power Attacker boost of any nature creature within the ranks of
5 mana or less. Besides that he is a Tree Folk that will be soon be receiving their very first evolution in just 14 days time. Now lets step away from the optimism to be realistic about this promo card.

As a nature creature, Angry Maple has to compete with 14 other 3 mana creatures that all can hold their own in any format better than it can. Even the very obscure Dew Mushroom, which would only be seen as a meta choice, stands a better chance at being used more often than Angry Maple. Right now almost any creature destruction would wipe him out except those that specify civilizations or blockers. Now don't get me wrong, a 5000 attacker is great but let's not forget about Barkwhip, the Smasher that could very well be played on turn 2 or later. For now the monster world will turn a blind eye to this slightly disgruntled Ent both due to its effect and the lack of support for the Tree Folk. I myself would only use him in a fun deck and even then I'd use Sniper Mosquito before him.

Constructed Format: 1.5/5
Limited Format: n/a
