Pojo's Duel Masters Card of the Day

Gigagiele

  Gigagiele

Base Set

Date Reviewed: 6.25.04

Constructed Average Rating: 1.75
Limited Average Rating: 1.5

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating.

Gordon Kane Gigagiele -- 5 for 3000 + Slayer. Too bad Slayer has
not been bolstered in Evo-Crushinators. Bone Assassin
is a 4 for 2000 + Slayer from the Base Set and
Creeping Plague gives all creatures Slayer for the
turn (if they are blocked during an attack) -- but
there seem to be a few cards missing (like a 3 for
1000 + Slayer creature and big Double Breaker with
Slayer) to make Slayer a viable theme.
Needless to say, the HR Giger-esque artwork makes this
one of the cooler looking cards, but Duel Masters
seems to suffer from the "cool looking card, lame
gameplay card" syndrome. Cool gameplay cards tend to
have lame names or lame art. Plus, the mechanic
Slayer only brings fear to the decks with Blockers -
Fire and Nature laugh and run past (unless the Slayer
decides to bash into the side of a bigger tapped
creature - then they both leave the field).
The card isn't completely crap and should not be
banished to the binder - but it just isn't ready to
mix with the big boys in the tourney scene. I'll
still be thinking about this card everytime a new set
comes out, but I just can't (currently) build a deck
around it.

Constructed 2 / 5
Limited 1.5 / 5

Stegyman Gigagiele

Creepy picture.

Gigagiele: Darkness Creature, 5-Mana, 3000 Attack. Not good, huh? It has Slayer. Does it help?..

I'm not sure about this card--in fact, I have yet to see it played (of course, I am going to Origins this weekend to play in the Duel Masters tournaments; wish me luck!). I really like the "Slayer" ability on the Darkness cards, but I think Bone Assassin, the Ripper pulls it off the best. Gigagiele is just a bigger version of Bone Assassin and comes as a Rare.

Pros: destroys any creature when it loses a battle

Cons: has to LOSE a battle for Slayer to work, 5-Mana for only 3000 Attack

I would suggest playing Bone Assassin, the Ripper over this card, even in Limited.

Tournament: 1.5/5

Limited: 1.5/5
