It's Friday everyone and the
weekend is finally here! Personally I've been
working a week straight and also had Midterms for
Masters Level classes all this week on top of that,
so I'm ready for a breather! Conveniently enough,
I'm off from work and class for about a week and
Monday just happens to be my birthday as well; what
luck! I will be putting up some videos soon so make
sure to stop by my channel for those or just to wish
me a happy birthday ;)! Alright, I'm sure you're all
burning to know about today's card, so let's get
started with Master Chavez's (No relation to the
recently deceased, Hugo Chavez!) right hand
creature, Gilaflame (Pronounced: He-la Flame, not
Gilla-Flame) the Assaulter!
Name: Gilaflame the
Assaulter
Civilization: Fire
Type: Creature
Race: Drakon
Level: 4
Power: 5000
Flavor Text: "Gilaflame, return fire!"
-Master Chavez
Rarity: Very Rare
Set Number: 113/165 I 3RIS
Abilities:
Fast Attack (This creature can attack on the
turn it enters the battle zone.)
Blurring Speed- At the end of the turn,
return this creature from the battle zone to your
hand.
Gilaflame is probably one of
the best fast attackers in this game outside of
Bolt-Tail Dragon and the innate abilities of
Evolution Creatures. He can appear out of nowhere
and just as soon go back without any warning. After
that last shield breaks in front of you, the thought
of your opponent dropping a Gilaflame or Bolt-Tail
is enough to get you worked up!
From my understanding and
personal experience, Gilaflame was one of the main
reasons that people started running Scaradorable of
Gloom Hollow. It essentially dulled Gilaflame's
fiery onslaught to a calm candlelit dinner for two!
People literally were putting cards into their decks
just to deal with this guy, including Frogzooka as
well.
Outside of the fact that
Gilaflame's power is above average for his Level,
and he happens to have Fast Attack, it's his
Blurring Speed that really makes him a formidable
foe. This ability returns him to the owners hand at
the end of the turn, making the only way to banish
him by means of a shield blast, a very strong
blocker, or an effect that causes your opponent to
discard him from their hand; he's very illusive!
There's still plenty of reason
for decks to run Gilaflame outside of landing the
finishing blow on your opponent. You could
potentially think of him as a Tornado Flame on legs!
As long as your opponent has a tapped creature with
5000 power or less, Gilaflame is able to banish it
with ease! If the creature just so happens to be
weaker than 5000, you just played a Tornado Flame
and at the end of your turn, put it back in your
hand!
This card is a really good card
to consider even if you're just teching in a few
Fire Civilization cards into your deck. There's also
an increasing level of support for Drakons coming
out, so overall, Gilaflame is a very powerful and
versatile card. If you don't have him, make sure you
get a playset while you can, you won't regret it!
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.50/5.00
(A powerful card for its cost. It easily takes down
smaller creatures and blockers and avoids most
spells outside of shield blasts.)
Limited: 5.00/5.00 (In
limited, Gilaflame can spell disaster for your
opponent and can very easily win you the game within
a few simple turns!)
I hope you all enjoyed this
week of Pojo's Card of the Day! Stop by next week
when we review over some personal choices of yours
truly; I'll get you guys revved up for DragonStrike
Infernus, I promise! Make sure to stop
by on my YouTube channel or my Twitter account and
wish me a happy birthday or just check out my videos
and information that are posted! Until next time
guys and girls, keep calm and game on!
