Welcome back everyone; I hope everyone enjoyed their
weekend! It’s time for another edition of the Card
of the Day! This week we are covering cards that,
yours truly, handpicked for their versatility and
viability as “Tech Choices”. They also happen to be
some of my personal favorites and of course, they’re
shiny! Today’s card is Waterspout Gargoyle, let’s
get started!
Waterspout Gargoyle is a Level 8 Aquan creature with
5,000 Power. His ability: Frenzied Strike, states-
When this creature enters the battle zone, you may
return up to 2 target creatures from the battle zone
to their owners’ hands.
This is one of those cards that can change the tempo
of a game relatively quick. If you’re putting this
guy into the battle zone, your intention should be
to slow down your opponent or to get past those
pesky blockers to allow your other creatures to
swing for game.
Before evolutions were a thing, this card usually
got rid of two of their creatures and sent them back
to your opponent’s hand. This means that they will
have to recast them all over again
and wait
a turn for each of them to attack (assuming they’re
not running an aggro Fire Civilization deck). That
in itself made this card worth playing in the late
game but also having 5,000 power on the field after
having that effect resolve is pretty nice.
After the arrivals of Evolutions, this card can be
both good and bad. It’s good for the fact that if
you bounce two evolution creatures to your
opponent’s hand, they just got potentially 4+ cards
sent back to their hand from the battle zone! The
downside though, is that most Evolution creatures
that are played now, don’t cost more than 5 mana to
play, so against a Darkness Civilization deck, Hydra
Medusa potentially returns to the field on the next
turn to smite Water Gargoyle. Also, everyone using
Emperor Neuron can easily put those cards back on
the field but they still have to use most of their
mana for their turn to accomplish this feat.
A nice little combo you can do if you’re fairly well
set up on your field, is to use Waterspout
Gargoyle’s effect on one of your opponents and one
of your
cards. You can essentially reuse the abilities of
cards you’ve previously played if they happen to
have an “enter the battle zone” ability. You can
even use it on Waterspout himself, returning one of
their creatures and Waterspout to their respective
owner’s hands; repeating this process infinitely
turn after turn!
The card does have its downsides however. It’s Level
8, so that means in most decks, you won’t be even
able to play this card until near the games end.
Also, the fact that this card only has 5,000 power
and only breaks one shield is a little
disappointing. Lastly, there’s no Aquan Evolution
creatures as of yet, so there’s not a lot of benefit
to running Aquans in general at this point, aside
from tech choices.
Needless to say, this card has a lot of potential
combos that can be created or it can simply end a
game when your opponent thinks they have the
upper-hand. I would expect this card to pop up from
time to time but it’s not for everyone. Give it a
try and let me know what you think of it!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.25/5.00
(Two Veil Vortexes in one card with 5,000 power, why
not? The major thing hurting this card’s playability
is the casting cost.)
Limited: 3.50/5.00
(Removal is always good in a limited format. Add the
fact that it’s a creature with removal built in and
you have yourself a solid card in limited play)
Make sure to check in tomorrow when we review my
second tech choice for the week. Believe it or not,
it’s one of the most powerful cards in the game
and also
one of the most underrated; check back tomorrow to
see what it is!

Waterspout Gargoyle
The architecture of the deeps hasn't escaped gothic influence, the ever watching Waterspout Gargoyle perches high above; staring down it's prey. Let's take a closer look before it lunges!
Waterspout Gargoyle
Cost: 8
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Aquan
Power: 5000
Card Abilities:
Frenzied Strike - When this creature enters the battle zone, you may return up to 2 target creatures from the battle zone to their owners' hands.
Waterspout Gargoyle is an interesting card, capable of bouncing an opposing creature and himself allows you to infinitely bounce at the heavy price of 8 mana per turn. Of course that isn't his only function, he can also bounce two opposing creatures and become a 5000 power body that dodges most of the common removal spells.
Sadly this card is rather gimmicky and often doesn't work out as well as it could, this is the reason for why it rarely sees play. The massive 8 mana cost really hurts, but when he does come at the optimal time he can pack a punch.
Is he worth playing? Sometimes, a few decks have found a use for him and he is sometimes played as a 1-of. I like the card, but I often opt to play some cards that come out a bit earlier and have greater consistency.

Waterspout Gargoyle
Civilization - Water
Level - 8
Power - 5000
Frenzied Strike - When this creature enters the
battle zone return upto two creatures in the battle
zone to their owners hand.
Waterspout gargoyle is one of waters many many
"Bounce" cards, and a creature off the field is just
as good as dead...until they replay it.
Currently we can bounce one creature with veil
vorterx or rusulaka for 4 mana, or with aquatic
expulsion we can bounce two level3 or lower
creatures for six.
This gives us a 5000 power body while we are at it.
This card is quite good in two spots one you can use
it to clear your opponents field for a final
assault, or we can break out of tight spots by
removing two cards from the field, albeit
temporarily.
Now all this sounds great, and it is. But 8 mana,
and it's not a trigger nor a finisher.
And there is a question, who is this card meant to
break?
Not rush certainly, control has a bunch of creatures
with ETB effects you don't want to return, so aggro.
When we look at it that way then it seems like a
specialized card to break out of bad situations
against aggro decks, in spite of all it's
raw efficiency a card needs more than
just efficiency it needs a role and waterspout
gargoyles role seems rather specialized.
Should you give it a pass though? That really
depends can you support it? Water/Nature builds
absolutely can thanks to having both Gigahorn
Charger and Crystal Memory they can search for it,
and water will ensure you have the mana to cast it.
In other builds it might be more iffy. Either way it
seems more of a great tech card than something you
rely on, if you already have crystal memory in your
deck throw one in and try him out, but don't bend
over backwards for him.

Hello Kaijudo
duelists, and welcome to a brand new week of Card of
the Day! This week we’re bringing you a plethora of
Super Rares from Dojo Edition and Rise of the Duel
Masters. The first card in our Super Rare spotlight
(to take a phrase from the Kaijudo.com website) is
the fearsome Waterspout Gargoyle! Let’s start with a
quick breakdown of its stats.
Name:
Waterspout Gargoyle
Civilization:
Water
Race:
Aquan
Cost: 8
Power:
5000
Ability:
Frenzied Strike
The first thing
you’ll notice about this card is its cost. 8 mana is
quite a bit, and for that much you’d better be
getting a card with finishing capability, like last
week’s Bolt-Tail Dragon, or a card with an effect
worth its cost. 5000 power isn’t exactly
finisher-level power, nor does this card have double
breaker, so let’s check out option two. Waterspout
Gargoyle’s effect, “Frenzied Strike,” lets you
return up to two creatures from the battle zone to
their owner’s hands when he is summoned to the
battle zone.
This is a very
solid effect, especially late game when this card
becomes live. Even in a meta that’s being dominated
by huge, fast-attacking Evolution creatures, forcing
your opponent to re-summon creatures isn’t
necessarily a bad thing. It makes them use almost
all of their mana to try to re-set up a play, as
opposed to following up on their field presence and
potentially making your situation more difficult.
This card can also be used offensively, bouncing
your opponent’s blockers, thus clearing a path for
your creatures to come in and deal some damage. But
that’s still not all! Waterspout Gargoyle can use
its effect to bounce your own creatures, including
itself, letting you re-use valuable come-into-play
effects or loop Waterspout Gargoyle indefinitely.
The only thing
holding this card back is its cost: 8 mana is quite
a bit, and in this fast paced meta, games can go
fairly quickly. Nature’s mana acceleration might
seem an obvious solution to this problem, but if
you’ve been paying attention to the forums and
various Kaijudo YouTube channels (which you
definitely should be!), traditional control decks
are starting to make a comeback. They can slow the
game down to the point that this card becomes a very
real threat, so that’s where you’re going to get the
most use out of it.
IN REVIEW
Rating (constructed): 3/5 –In spite of its limited role
in more traditional control builds, Waterspout
Gargoyle is still a remarkably solid card. It
becomes live at a very important time in the game
when one player’s momentum can lead to his or her
victory in a few short turns, so having a card like
this to disrupt that momentum can be a big deal.
5000 power isn’t anything to shake a stick at,
either. It allows Waterspout Gargoyle to trade in
battle with threatening cards like Emperor Neuron,
Hydra Medusa and King Neptas. Its ability to return
your cards or loop itself is just icing on the cake.
If you’re playing control and need some extra
disruptive oomph in the late game, look no further
than Waterspout Gargoyle.

"You don't belong
here."-Waterspout Gargoyle Flavor Text
Hello! I’m Kaisenko
and this is my first ever Kaijudo CoTD! (I would’ve
been doing reviews earlier, but a little thing
called High School came up.)
Now that I’ve gotten my intro out of the way,
let’s take a look at today’s card. Waterspout
Gargoyle.
Level: 8
Power: 5000
Race: Aquan
Abilities: Frenzied Strike —
When this creature enters the battle zone, you may
return up to 2 target creatures from the battle zone
to their owners' hands.
At
first this card might look a bit…mediocre. It has a
high cost, no Double Breaker, and very low power.
Well those traits didn’t stop Razorkinder(TVR) from
becoming great, but it just might stop this card
from achieving metagame fame. The power to bounce
two creatures with one creature can definitely help
you with late game pushes. You could drop two
Rusalka’s , but those are primarily used to control
early game tempo. In a way this card is basically a
fusion of two Ruslaka’s in one creature. But the
problem is that it can’t really do anything else
after it’s dropped due to its low power, as well as
a lack of Double Breaker.
Pros: Its ability alone can win you games by helping
clear the way for your other creatures. And it can
bounce itself back to your hand.
Cons: Not very effective as a finisher (But now that
we have evo’s in the game that may not matter)
My Rating: 2.75 (Great ability, but everything else
…not so much)
