Craze Valkyrie, the Drastic

Type: Evolution
Civilization: Light
Race: Initiate
Mana Cost: Six
Rules Text:
Evolution-Put on one of your Initiates.
When you put this creature into the battle zone, choose up to 2 of your opponent's creatures in the battle zone and tap them.
Double breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)

Flavor Text:

“Time to get Drastic!”
Power: 75000

Rarity: Super Rare
Set: Stompatrons of Invincible Wrath

Power/Cost: Six mana is a standard cost for the big gun evolutions. These creatures should have a significant impact on the duel for you. In order to do that, they need a solid attack power and a valuable effect. Craze Valkyrie unfortunately missed the prime power slot of 8k by just 500 points. On the bright side, he can still pick off every commonly played blocker, lower end evolutions, and most normal creatures.

Civilization/Race: Evolution creatures depend directly upon what creatures are available to evolve onto. Luckily for Craze Valkyrie, the Initiate race has a fair amount of solid creatures. The best three are probably Magris, Miele, and Sarius.

The Initiates are not quite as strong as the Guardians, Light’s other major evolution line. They also fail in comparison to the Beastfolk and Liquid People. Initiates DO have stronger support than many other Evolution lines like the Colony Beetles and Chimeras.

Effects: All the big-shot evolutions come with Double Breaker. This standard ability is important for Craze Valkyrie due to the rest of his effect. Tapping two creatures allows you to bypass opposing blockers, and then use that double breakage without resistance. This can also make a neat combo by tapping opposing creatures then using strong Light blockers to pick them off. I really like the possibilities of this tapping effect.

Limited: 3/5

There are only three decent Initiates in Stompatrons to draft for Craze Valkyrie. I recommend avoiding Evolutions in this format unless a good opportunity surfaces. You probably will rarely pull Valkyrie anyway because of his Super Rare status. Still, he can be deadly if played right in draft.

Constructed: 4/5

Craze Valkyrie could easily become a powerful card in today’s metagame. The effect is just too good to pass up. He would probably work best in some kind of Nature/Light tandem.

My soccer season has ended at last. That means I can finally make it to Galactic Quest for the tournament this weekend and redeem my DCI ranking. So look forward to a great tourny report on Monday with lotsa pictures!

Well, We're done with the Invincible cards, So onto I guess to finish up the week we're reviewing a random card? Oh well.

Today we're looking at Craze Valkyrie, the Drastic. He's a very underestimated card, Anyway..Lets take a look.

Name: Craze Valkyrie, the Drastic
Cost: 6
Race: Initiate
Civilization: Light
Type: Evolution
Rules Text:
Evolution-Put on one of your Initiates.
When you put this creature into the battle zone, Choose up to two of your opponent's creatures in the battle zone and tap them.
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields)
Flavor Text: "Time to get Drastic!"
Power: 7500
Mana Number: (1)

Alright, Now since thats done. Let's see what makes this guy tick.

He's a Light card, So you know he's got many support cards able to back him up.
And being an Evolution is nothing un-common to the Light Civilization. Being another Evolution for the Iniciate race isnt such a bad thing..He can combo with Sieg Balicula, the Intense makeing him not only a 7500 double breaker..But a blocker aswell!

Now onto his effect: He's got a CIP effect *CIP=Come into play*, Which can be good if you bounce him back to your hand from some effect. When he's put into the battle zone you can choose up to two creatures your opponent controls and tap them. Pesky blockers getting in your way? Maybe an annoying power-house keeps destroying your shields? Just tap him and attack him! (That is, if he's 7500 or less)

What else could you play for 6 mana?
- Magris, Vizier of Magnetism + Sarius, Vizier of Supression?
- La Ura Giga + Emerald Grass + Jade Tree?
- There are many cheap cards the Light Civilization has for under 6 mana.

Pro's:
- 7500 Double Breaker for 6, Not too shabby.
- He taps two of your opponents creatures when he comes into play.
- He's an evolution of the Initiate race, Meaning some support cards.

Con's:
- He's an Initiate evolution, Not too many good Initiates to evolve him from.
- He Power/Cost ratio isnt very impressive.
- You could put out a solid defense of blockers rather than this guy.

Constructed:    3 / 5  (If youve got a Mono-Light or have a Light/??? deck and use Initiates..then by all means, try him out)

Limited:    1.5 / 5  (I you pull this guy, Pass him right along. The chances of getting enough Initiates to evolve him from are slim. But if you manage to get a few, you could try useing him..)

Well, There's my Two-Cents about Craze Valkyrie, the Drastic.

craze valkyrie

Today we look at craze valkyrie, the drastic. Ihad the luck of pulling this at the 5 civs tournament. I have never used it and probably never will as light is a sucky civilization. On to the review!

Craze Valkyrie, the Drastic
cost 6
initiate
evolution
When you put this creature in the battle zone choose up to 2 of your opponent's creatures and tap them
power 7500

I really don't know why people think this is so great. You get to tap 2 creatures. This will probably go for 1 and another of your creatures go for another 1. So you are probably destroying 2 creatures. Only 2. Your opponent will probably have several out by turn 6. Aren't there several other light evolutions for 6 mana? Take Alcadeias for example. It is also 6 mana, only it has 12500 instead of 7500. It also lets players only cast light spells. You already know how I feel about tapping two creatures. Lastly, they are both double breakers. Alcadieas wins that challenge.

limited: If you pull it and have the initiates then go for it as it is hard to pull fatties. 4/5

constructed: There are much better evolutions for 6 mana like alcadieas and ladia bale.2/5

Well, that's the review. Be sore to read next week's cards!
