I HATE today's card.  Let me give you a little story real quick.  I was playing the Galactic Quest storeowner one day, and I discarded his whole hand (you know how).  There were TWO of these mothers in his hand.  Instead of having no field and no hand, he suddenly had no hand but a field full of 5500 power attackers I had to deal with.  It wasn't pretty (though I managed to win anyway).  Story told, onto the card:

Dava Torey, Seeker of Clouds
Cost: 6
Civilization: Darkness
Card Type: Creature
Race:  Mecha Thunder
•    During your opponent's turn, if this creature would be discarded from your hand, put it into your battle zone instead.
Flavor Text:  "I refuse to be forgotten."
Power:  5500
Mana Generated: 1
Rarity: Common
Card Number: whocares?/55

Yeah, today's bonus is in the flavor text.  Which card does it allude to, that has similar flavor text.  A hint, I've already hinted at it.  ^_^*

Civilization: LIght monsters tend to usually have the really unique abilities.  This guy is no exception.  He's also a mecha Thunder, which don't have any evolutions or support that I am aware of, but tend to be a decent race all around...  I also feel compelled to point out that this card has some of my favorite art EVER.

Cost: You could dry cast him for six mana, but really, we won't be WANTING to do that, now will we?  Did I mention I like his art?

Power:  5500 power is nothing to shake a stick at.  It's also nothing to shake a Thrash Crawler at...  And his artwork is cooler than Thrash Crawler.  The point I'm trying to make here is that he can run over most commonly played creatures, is immune to most cheap kill spells, and he can run over commonly played blockers.  And he has pimpin' art.

Abilities:  This ability is NASTY.  If it is discarded during your opponents turn (by either player, but I'm getting to that) he is summoned to the field.  This means he won't have summoning sickness on your turn.  He's also big, and nasty.  This ability means you don't have to pay for him, and it turns lost advantage (from hand) into gained advantage (field, without mana spending).  His ability is cool, on par with his art.

THE REVIEW

Constructed overview: In this format, he's a pimp.  His power is nice, but it's his ability that makes him shine.  With Locomotiver, Lost Soul, and othe hand discard running amok, his ability will be darn useful.  And you know how I told you that his ability can work when either player dicards him?  Well, think back to a certain darkness card from Evo-Crushinators, and ask yourself that doesn't just scream EVIL COMBO!  (The monster, btw, is Gigastand).  In this format, if you're running light and want to counter the metagame, or you just want a monster with cool artwork, this is your man.  4/5

Limited overview: Eh, it's not as good here, since there aren't as much discard, but he's still usable.  He's a fattie, and will be hard to kill.  If you are running light, need a fattie, or are drafting for coolness, take him.  3 /5

FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW...

Anyhow, I'm doing a little contest at the moment.  Look at the underlined part of my review (not the next time line, but something else), and tell me what that line is from, or where I got it from.  Today, I told you to figure out next weeks theme, by looking at this weeks.  The first person to e-mail me five times with the correct answers will win a copy of the card we reviewed that day, plus a little... Bonus.

Monday's question was answered correctly by chaos_semaj11.  Nobody has found my hidden message in Wednesdays review, so it's still open.  Anyways, todays is at the top of the page.  I've practically given you the answer, so go ahead and email me when you figure it out.

Next week:  Cards we probably WON'T see at Nationals.  Starting with... A flying Fish?

Horus Master lv8
Okay, we finally made it to Friday.  I'm sure many of you are pumped for the next two weeks as this may be your last week to practice for Continentals.  Next weekend (Oct. 22nd), is the pre-release of a set that has been getting a lot of attention, Epic Dragons (for short).  So make sure you get the proper amount of playtesting in.

Name: Dava Torey, Seeker of Clouds
Cost: 6
Race: Mecha Thunder
Civilization: Light
Type: Creature
Rules Text:
During your opponent's turn, if this creature would be discarded from your hand, put it into the battle zone instead.
Flavor Text:
"I refuse to be forgotten."
Power: 5500
Mana Number: 1
Artist: Norikatsu Miyoshi
Rarity: U
Collector Number: 18
Set: Stomp-a-Trons of Invincible Wrath

So to end this week, we have something that could see some play as a tech card (means as a card that can be used great against some decks).

Type/Civilization: Well, Light may actually see some play in Los Angeles.   I sure am hoping for it to.  Though there are some other choices here that you may rather pick than this card, you may be able to truly "tech" it and throw one in.  Mecha Thunders are stuck on opposite day.  No real support for the Mecha people who haven't been Mecha.

Cost/Power: Well, Light is also known for having some pretty good if not great Cost/Power ratios.  This is not an exception.  So if you can't get its effect, you can always summon him as a beatstick. Though with the enormous possibility of Corile, actually more like the fact that Coriles will be present, this may turn against you and hurt your chances of winning.  No one likes getting Corile'd more than once on a single monster consecutively and the monster doesn't have a "come into play" effect.  That was a mouthful.

Effect: This card is great against decks with those discarding cards, and we know that some form will be in the majority of people's deck.  This also combos well with creatures that say "If this card is destroyed, you may return it to your hand instead.  If you do, discard a card from your hand."  So if you can get your opponent to destroy those cards on his/her turn, you can lose no disadvantage whatsoever.  Unfortunately, I don't remember the person that brought this to my attention, if I would've I would have posted his/her forum name.

Constructed: 3/5 About a 75% chance that your opponent will be running some form of discard.  That is my guess.

Limited: 3.5/5 You could run it.  I would pick it second round after you've looked at all your cards.

Overall: 3.25/5 *Please someone just choose a card that really sucks that way I can end this streak*

Well, until next time, good luck on possibly your last day of playtesting for Continentals.

Himura363 Name: Dava Torey, Seeker of Clouds
Cost: 6
Race: Mecha Thunder
Civilization: Light
Type: Creature
Rules Text:
During your opponent's turn, if this creature would be discarded from your hand, put it into the battle zone instead.
Flavor Text:
"I refuse to be forgotten."
Power: 5500
Rarity: Uncommon
Set: Stomp-a-Trons of Invincible Wrath

Cost:
You really don't want to summon this creature normally, because it would be a waste.

Race:
Mecha Thunders really don't have any support or Evos now.

Power:
Cost to Power: 6 to 5500. Not too great. Doesn't have Double Breaker either.

Effect:
With all the Lost Souls and Locos runnin around, and you wanted to be safe, run Dava Torey, or atleast splash some in.

Limited:
First, there is Gigazald. There is only 1 other Chimera in the set, so you would not really get discard from him. Then, there is Rain of Arrows. Dava Torey won't see any discard because he is light. Schuka, DUke of Amnesia is the only thing that would discard Dava. Schuka discards both players hands, so it would actually give you advantage. With only one discarder in Stomp-A-Tron, this card will rarely see play.

2/10

Constructed:
With 2 cards normally used: Loco and Lost Soul, this card will see play. Even if you don't run Light, splashing it and maybe Holy Awe works too. You should always be safe about discard.

7/10
