Toel, Vizier of Hope

I like this guy. He seems weak for a 5 drop, but his ability is what makes him valuable. Basically, he makes your creatures unattackable by the general population by untapping them each turn. Your opponent will need some specific removal to deal with your guys. In the meantime, you've hopefully dealt some significant damage. Also, this guy will definitely draw some fire. Your opponent will probably jump through hoops to take this measely 2000 guy out. That means less removal that will hit your big guys, always a nice thing.

In limited, this guy is insanely good. Again, your opponent will do anything to get rid of Toel, as he is most likely making their life miserable. If they can't deal with Toel, it could significantly tilt the game in your favor. A high pick in draft and a definite play in sealed.

Toel, Vizier of Hope

This is a really small creature at a mere 2000 points. And since it cost five mana to play, you have to expect something good out of it. Well, it definitely delivers. Having the ability to untap ALL of your creatures at the end of every turn is definitely something special. You can keep your heavy hitters out of danger from oncoming attackers. It really makes your opponent work to kill your team.

Toel, Vizier of Hope

Toel is one of those guys that looks good on paper, but after you play him for a while, realize he’s overrated for his cost. The ability to untap at the end of each turn makes you less susceptible to attack from opposing creatures, but most opposing creatures want to attack your shields anyway, not you. There are blockers of course, but blockers can still block, so all in all this guy seems like a good idea gone bad.

Hydromorph Toel, Vizier of Hope

Finishing my week of picking the cards, we have Toel, Vizier of Hope. Is it just me, or does this ability seem like it should be on a rare? Creatures that untap at the end of your turn are good. Creature that give all your other creatures this ability are even better. Imagine Gran Gure, and other blockers. They can attack tapped creature, and still protect your shields during your turn.

Toel is waiting to be broken, and even though it dies to nearly every removal spell, I still think it’s an amazing card in it’s own right, even with a measly 2000 attack. Combined with Unblockable creatures and blockers, it could be devastating.

In draft, it’s absolutely amazing. If your opponent can’t deal with it, they’ll quickly find themselves in a tight and nearly inescapable situation. Still not a first pick, but an early one, and a quick staple.

Constructed- 4/5

Limited- 4/5

The Antman Toel, Vizier of Hope- Uncommon

Well people... Today hasn't been a good day for me, but that means it is a good day for you because this is my thierd CotD that I have done today =/ so expect to see a lot of me next week. For today we have Toel, Vizier of Hope which is one of the most interesting cards that I have seen and possibly better than Urth, Purifying Elemental O_o.

Our Buddy Toel here may not be a big power house at 5 or a great blocker, but he does have one thing and that is support. Not many people see it but Toel have one of the best effects in the game, and only a uncommon? who knew. His power lets you untap all your creatures at the end of your turn meaning that ALL of your creatures are pretected from attacks, your opponet will have a very hard time trying to destroy your King Depthcon or Explosive Fighter Ucarn. If your still skeptic, just think about it, Your blockers can still attack a blocker and be ready to block the next turn, your creatures are immune from attacks as I said before, this card is in my oppinion a little undercosted even.

Constructed- 4.9/5 it would have gotten a 5 if it was stronger in means of attack or costed less

Limited- 4/5 a little worse here because of the fact that you probably won't have more than 1 big guy in your deck making it harder for this guy to be useful
final though- Play him in constructed if you are going Light but in limited only pick him if he is a late pick

Otaku

Name: Toel, Vizier of Hope

Type: Creature

Civilization: Light

Race: Initiate

Cost: 5

Power: 2000

Effect: At the end of each of your turns, you may untap all your creatures in the battle zone.

Flavor Text:Vizier of Hope, arise.  Your singing voice is a breeze of dawn.”

 –Hanusa, Radiance Elemental

Mana#: 1

Set/Card#/Rarity: Base Set. 22/110, Uncommon

Attributes: A Creature of Light, so obviously you need to tap at least one Light mana to summon it.  It is one of the five Initiates, which currently doesn’t affect how it plays.  It costs 5 to summon, but has only Power of 2000.  As usual, we hope the effect is worth 3 mana.

Abilities: The effect lets you untap all your creatures at the end of your turn.  That is pretty good-you can attack with everything that can attack, then untap it all so that they can’t be attacked (and blockers can still block).

Uses/Combinations: If slayers are common in your area, then this is a lifesaver-most monsters can’t hit what isn’t tapped.

Ratings

Newbie Format: 3/5-Usually he only threat to your big guy is your opponent’s big guy, or a removal spell.  This protects form the former.

Standard: 2/5-Most blockers aren’t used for attacking, and burning five mana on something a Crimson Hammer can nuke seems like poor resource management.

Limited: 3.5/5-Less removal means battle is how most of your monsters will buy it-this makes it almost impossible for that to happen.

Summary

Good concept, poor execution.  Too much mana for too fragile a monster… remember, if it goes, its effect is gone too.

Stegyman Toel, Vizier of Hope

Early untapping=good.

Toel, Vizier of Hope: Light Creature, 5-Mana, 2000 attack. Ouch, huh? The text says that: At the end of each of your turns, you may untap ALL of your creatures in the battle field. woot!

Should you play this? I say it depends. Light is a very defensive color, so hardly anything really attacks. However, in Light/whatever, Toel becomes more of a use. Your opponent can only attack your monsters directly if they are tapped, but if they are untapped then they are safe. Toel forces your opponent to use creature removal spells to get rid of your own monsters (minus his/her own Blockers, of course).

Pros: untaps ALL of your creatures, chump Attacker

Cons: measely 2000 Attack for 5-Mana

Light/Fire would benefit most from Toel, since the attacking Fire monsters would be safe from your opponent's monsters. In Limited this card is okay since your deck will probably contain mostly creatures anyway, and having them untap after they attack is pretty good. Not a high pick, but it beats out other cards.

Tournament: 2.5/5

Limited: 2.5/5
