So did everyone out there miss me? Did anyone notice I was even gone? So the answer to both of these questions is probably not - that is ok, I understand. Just in case you are curious though I have spent the last little while giving a talk at a conference in San Francisco and trying to finish up some experiments so I can get out of school. Rather than become a professional student (which is what some think I have become at this point), I have decided to actually start a career in the real world. Yeah, I know - silly me...

Ok, enough said..onto the review:
There really isn't much to say about today's card. It is your basic team-up for Underworld and it basically allows you to team-up anything you have in your ko pile. Personally I am not a big fan of Underworld so this card has little appeal for me. I remember playing this card in limited once and I couldn't get a different team in the ko pile - go figure. It is a decent team-up if you want to create a wacky sort of fun deck, but I prefer going the Marvel Knights/Midnight Sons route in that case.

Well, the sneak previews are over for us, but we've still got some COTD action to tide you over until Legion prerelease tournaments this weekend. Today we're dipping way back into Marvel Knights for Hypnotic Charms.

Hypnotic Charms was a really nice thematic card for the Underworld team, as it allowed you to team up your on field characters with the ones in your KO'd pile.

The bomb combo to pull off was to get Lacuna into your KO'd pile, then flip Hypnotic Charms, so that every character on your field would have the affiliations of every other character on your field, as well as any other cards in your KO'd pile. With the current trend of toolboxing characters and swarming the field, the Lacuna/Hypnotic Charms combo would be fairly easy to pull off, especially with Straight to the Grave to send Lacuna to the KO'd pile. This gives you access to team-stamped plot twists, and more importantly, reinforcement and team attacks. Hypnotic Charms also has its own search card, as Morbius will fetch a copy when he comes into play. I could also see the Skrull getting use out of this, pitching a variety of cards to Enemy of My Enemy or Slaughter Swamp, then using Hypnotic Charms to give your Skrull characters those affiliations. Midnight Sons is definitely the better team-up out of Marvel Knights, but Hypnotic Charms may have some playability in the right deck.

Rating: 3/5
