 | Eye of the
								Storm
This week is X-men mental week. I am going to be
up front about this and say right now I may not
have the best ratings for this week, simply
because I haven't put this deck together yet and
played it. Unfortunately there are so many
interesting new things out there and the X-men
mental theme is still a pretty expensive deck to
build. Needless to say this deck has been put on
the back burner for the time being. However,
there is a reason this deck is the more
expensive deck to build. It is a very solid deck
that has seen consistent showings in recent
major events. Today we are going to look at a
card that could definitely fit into this deck -
								Eye of the storm.

Eye of the storm is a quick way to gain
endurance. Having a 3-threshold is insignificant
compared to the lack of restrictions this card
has placed on it. Being able to activate this
card at any point in the game so long as you
control no stunned characters and have an X-men
character is really something. Gaining 4
endurance may not seem like much, but there are
many times when 4 endurance can make all the
difference in the world. This card can only be
found in the new starter deck, so I recommend if
you have room for this card in your X-men mental
deck, go out and get a few starter decks...this
is one card I would definitely give a try.

 Ratings:
MMA constructed - 3.0/5.0 ...This is definitely
								a tinker card.
GA constructed - 2.0/5.0 ...The game is so fast
in this format, having this card may not make
								much of a difference.

Limited - 3.5/5.0 ...Well if you are playing
with started decks then definitely go with the
								X-men half.

 | Eye of the
								Storm
One of the new decks to come out of Modern Age
is the X-Mental deck, and having played against
it (and gotten smashed by it) recently, it
seemed like a good deck to take a look at this
								week.

One of the more surprising cards that helps this
deck win is Eye of the Storm. Endurance gain
hasn't really been much of a factor in Tier 1
decks, save for G-Lock. G-Lock uses endurance
gain to build up a massive endurance lead, then
use the end of time procedures as a backup win
condition. X-Mental uses lifegain as a way to
keep rush decks like Squad and X-Faces from
getting a Turn 5 win, and allow the X-Mental
player to make it to turns 6 and 7, where heavy
hitters like Jean Grey and Exodus are waiting.

X-Mental has a few tricks to keep itself from
losing to much endurance from breakthrough (see
Friday's COTD), and the stun damage it takes can
be replenished with a copy or two of Eye of the
Storm. Even better is a copy of Eye of the Storm
in the resource row, where it can be reused by
								Emma Frost (see Wednesday's
COTD) multiple times. Ther first game I played
against X-Mental was with my Squadron deck. He
used Eye of the Storm 3 times against me, and
the final score was 12-0. Coincidence? Nope,
just a very powerful card in the right deck. The
only drawback is that it can only be found in
the X-Men starter deck, and there's only one
copy in each starter. Unless you have 40 bucks
to drop on starters, better luck trading or
ebaying for a set of these. It'll be interesting
to see if X-Stall makes a comeback with Eye of
								the Storm.

No Limited review, unless you play some weird
"one starter, two boosters" Sealed deck
								tournament.
